DIY Solar and Wind Power Generators can help you save money
With the skyrocketing prices of oil and energy you're probably wondering what you can do to save some money. Well if that's the case, you're not alone. People from all corners of the world are nervously watching energy prices as they continue to set new highs on a seemingly daily basis. It's unsettling at best, and rather scary if you think about the big picture. The backbone of our society is in danger of collapsing, all due to our dependence on decreasing supplies of fossil fuels.
What are the Alternatives?
Now that the gloom and doom is out of the way it's time to think about some alternatives that will work for your home or business. Two of the most promising sources of alternative energy are solar and wind.
Why are Solar and Wind Power Right for Me?
Let's look at a few reasons why homemade wind and solar generators are our best choices. The first is that these are somewhat mature, meaning they've been around for awhile and the technology to utilize them has evolved. Wind power has been used since at least the 9th century, and possibly even earlier. The first solar cell was developed in the late 1800's.
Another great reason to use solar and wind power is that we've got a free, unlimited supply of both. Simply put, this means no more dependence on foreign oil! We can eliminate the price spikes, and that helpless feeling of being held hostage by forces beyond our control.
The last most important reason is that both of these are relatively easy to harness. It's not only easy to build a functional and reliable windmill, or solar panel/solar cell for use at home, it can be done cheaply. With the right plans you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost of commercially available wind turbines, or solar cells. And the best part is that your homemade generators will produce a significant amount of energy that can help to reduce, or even eliminate your need to buy it.
How do I get Started?
You'll need to get some plans that show you step by step the easiest, cheapest, and most effective way to build your own. But don't worry, you're in luck. There are plans available that have been tested and fine tuned that will allow you to easily build your own windmill and solar cells for your home. So what are you waiting for?
