The Happy Earth Emporium
Then one day I was walking into Target with my little 4 year old daughter. We were laughing, holding hands and skipping along thru the parking lot when all of a sudden she stopped dead in her tracks in front of a parking space where someone had left four Styrofoam coffee cups sitting in the parking space. She looked up at me with her big green eyes and says "OH Mama!!! We should never leave our trash around it makes the Earth so unhappy!"
Needless to say I was stunned that my 4 year old could even think on this level, so we promptly picked up the cups and put them in the nearest trash can. After that, making the Earth happy became an obsession of mine. I admit I had no clue as to where to start or what exactly to do but I figured anything was better than NOTHING!!!
We started taking recycling very seriously in our house and even banned certain products such as Styrofoam. We all know it doesn't break down and can stay around for a gallion years - not something that I want to be part of!!! We also started replacing our regular cleaning products as they ran out with Earth Friendly versions instead of heading down that cleaning isle in the grocery store.
We also started donating our old clothes and other items that are still usable to the Salvation Army and other charitable associations instead of just throwing them out. We also resell some as well.
All of our research and work has prompted me to open my own store where people can come to buy Earth Friendly cleaning products along with many other eco friendly products. Don't get me wrong, I am not completely perfect when it comes to being "Green" and not everything we do is probably as green as it should be but we are making an effort and that's what counts right??
Our new store is called The Happy Earth Emporium My 4 year old daughter named it (Well not the Emporium part!) and I think it is very fitting. So check out our store and see what great cleaning products that we have available. Even changing just one item in your long list of cleaning supplies can make a difference!! And the best part about it is that you won't even notice the difference! Your clothing will be just as clean, your house will smell just as good as it did with your chemical cleaners, you won't be loosing out on a thing, but you just might be adding a bit of happiness to our Earth!

No more excuses!! Earth Friendly is where it's at!
When I first started putting this lens together, I will be honest, it was mainly to promote my new business. But then after digging into Amazon and seeing how many incredible products they have, books for both adults and kids, great websites and blogs with a wide range of topics which all come back to what we can do to help our environment, I knew that I had to share what I had found!!
I know that people are busy with their daily lives, we often feel we don't have the money for the eco friendly products and like I used to think, many think that just one person or one family really can't make a difference so why bother??
All of those are just excuses!! There are so many simple little things you can do that won't cost you a ton of money!! Check out my next module, just off of the top of my head I am going to list as many little things that anyone can do without spending a cent to help the environment!
Off the top of my head ~ Green with out spending a cent!
- Shut the lights off when you are not in a room ~ saves you money!
- Don't want to buy reusable bags for the grocery store? Save the ones that you got the last time you shopped and use them over and over again!
- Don't use styrofoam/paper single use dishes. Use real ones and wash them!
- Don't buy bottled water (save you money!)
- Plan your meals and actually cook so that you aren't stuck at the last minute going thru a drive thru or ordering out! (Saving you money yet again!)
- Do an energy audit to see how much energy you use. Limit your use of your appliances, shut things off, take quicker showers, adjust your toilet to use less water. (again all of these things will save you money!)
- Recycle! Most places require you to do so anyway so why not do it the right way??
- Get educated!! If you are reading this on the net then you can definately surf the net for all the green sites they have out there with tons of advice!
- When you start running out of your regular cleaners, dish soap, laundry detergent etc, replace them with environmently friendly ones! Most don't cost any more and they are just as good but you usually use less and they dont harm the environment!
- Start a compost pile or bin in your back yard! Easy to get the directions off of the Internet!
- Donate unwanted clothing and household items. You can get a good tax right off plus the items can be reused again instead of ending up in a land fill!
- When shopping look for items with the least amount of packaging and filling. This goes for both grocery and non grocery items. Buy fresh local produce!

Halloween Mini Soap Bar Favors ~ Great for Trick or Treat! ~ Limited time only!
When I decided to open an eco friendly store I did a lot of research into the companies before I chose which ones that I was going to have in my store.
I found Soaps and Spa Products by Country Meadows and I liked what they had to say and the fact that they try their very hardest to make sure everything is as eco friendly as it possibly can be. I also liked the fact that it was a small company and that they made their soaps themselves.
Before I was ready to put these new soaps, lotions and scrubs up for sale in our Emporium, I needed to test them out for myself!! So they sent me a HUGE sampling of their products. I received soaps, scrubs and lotions. They came about two weeks ago and when they came I immediately ripped into the packaging so I could smell each and every one!!!
Ok now I have to admit, when I came across the samples of the Gardner Collection, which included Wild Lettuce, Tuscan Tomato and Grapefruit Mint, I thought "OH YUCK!" Why do I want LETTUCE soap?? Well let me tell you, it smells WONDERFUL!! I am not just pulling your leg either! When I mentioned my trepidation to the owner of the company she suggested that I mix the soaps in a dish, the Lettuce, Tomato and Grapefruit, she said that the combination is just great. So I tried it and she was so right!! All of the soaps have a nice subtle scent, nothing overpowering. Believe me you aren't going to smell like you just rubbed a tomato all over you!! These are perfect scents for in the kitchen. The soaps are pretty and smell great!! I have had people come in and smell it when they are in the kitchen and ask what the smell is. I LOVE the look on their face when I say "Ohh its just my LETTUCE soap!"
So now I am just in LOVE with this entire line and that is why it is in my store! Right now for a limited time they have Halloween Mini Soap Bar Favors that I just got in.
