An Earth-Friendly CFL Bulb For the Future

One of the biggest concerns for CFL bulbs is their mercury content. I want to introduce to you a low mercury compact fluorescent light bulb that contains 75% less mercury than most other CFL lights.

The Earthmate CFL bulbs also have eco-friendly packaging and the CFL bulbs are smaller than most other compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Earthmate Low Mercury 1 Mg CFL Bulbs

Earthmate low mercury CFL bulbs are the best "green" option for CFLs.

There are plenty of good reasons and benefits to buying Earthmate CFL bulbs as listed above. Earthmate bulbs are the "greenest" most Earth-friendly compact fluorescent light bulbs on the market. They are energy-efficient (require 75% less energy, ENERGY STAR rated and are instant-on, flicker-free), but they also contain features not found with most other CFL bulbs.

Compact fluorescent lights require mercury to work. Most CFL bulb manufacturers use 4-5 milligrams of mercury. Earthmate Mini Spiral bulbs are different; they only require 1 mg of mercury to operate efficiently. That is 75% less mercury! If an Earthmate Mini Spiral bulb breaks in a landfill, its environmental impact is much less than your average CFL bulb.

However, all CFL bulbs should be recycled. Please keep any and all mercury (regardless of the amount of mercury content) out of our fragile eco-system. Mercury can contaminate the air, land and water of the environment, which causes problems for all of us.

Shorter Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Earthmate bulbs have another requested feature. Many light bulb manufacturers produce energy-efficient CFL bulbs, but they end up much longer than a traditional standard incandescent bulb.

Again, Earthmate Mini Spiral bulbs are different. The Earthmate 15 Watt Mini Spiral bulb is only 3.9" long (shorter than a 4.4" incandescent bulb). As the wattage increases, so does the length of the Earthmate Mini Spiral bulbs, but not by much (see below for the overall lengths of the popular CFL wattage bulbs).

The shorter Earthmate CFL bulbs mean you can use them in most applications unlike other big and bulky compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Earthmate 15 Watt CFL (60 Watt Incandescent) = 3.9" Long

Earthmate 20 Watt CFL (75 Watt Incandescent) = 4.3" Long

Earthmate 23 Watt CFL (100 Watt Incandescent) = 4.5" Long

Earthmate CFL Bulb Earth-Friendly Packaging

Earthmate bulb packaging is super Earth-friendly and just another way to reduce global warming. The packaging materials are made from 100% post-consumer waste and is entirely recyclable. Unlike most other light bulb manufacturers that use hard-to-open plastic, Earthmate uses easy-to-open, recyclable cardboard packaging.

Many light bulb manufacturers also use petroleum-based ink on their packaging. As you guessed it, not Earthmate. Earthmate continues its eco-sensitivity by using soy-based ink on their packaging further reducing the impact on the environment.

Earthmate CFL Bulb Final Facts

Don't forget that Earthmate CFL bulbs are actually cheaper than standard incandescent light bulbs because of not just the energy savings acheived, but the CFL bulbs last longer than standard incandescent bulbs.

Earthmate Mini Spiral bulbs have reduced mercury content (1 mg), shorter bulb lengths, eco-friendly packaging (recycled and recyclable easy-open cardboard with soy-based ink), instant-on, flicker-free performance, 10,000 hour rated life and are ENERGY-STAR energy-efficient. These Earthmate compact fluorescent light bulbs are the best "green" option for CFLs that you can buy!

in reply to briandancer The only thing I have seen from MaxLite and GreenLite are reduced amounts of mercury in their CFL bulbs as you say, but they still operate at 2-3 mg (the average CFL bulb requires 4-5 mg of mercury). The Earthmate bulbs described above, which are manufactured by LiteTronics, only require 1 mg of mercury.

I love the fact that your bulb has only 1mg of mercury, but I just wanted to mention that I just got back from LightFair 2009 in New York, and there are many manufacturers that now have the reduced amount as well. GreenLite, LiteTronics, and MaxLite are a few of them. What a great development in CFL lighting.

CFLs causing mercury levels in landfills has been a big concern, so it is really great to see there are options with significantly reduced levels. Thanks for presenting this information and good luck to you...
