Interested in Earthquakes?

I created this site to monitor earthquakes. I had no idea so many occurred daily and I doubt if others do either. If they interest you, this site will help you track them. Through the USGS, you can also report them if you feel them (I have done this a couple of times). Please enjoy and please stay safe!

EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION LINK

Earthquake prediction is not very probable but Seismologists have attempted using different prediction devices. They have developed tools that try to predict region and time. Some are speculating that certain satellites may be able to assist in prediction by using hazards that exist. This is not an exact science and processes are still being investigated. Check out this link for further info.

This tool may help in prediction of earthquakes, however, time is not certain. When calculating, you can give or take about 24 hours each way for a prediction.

DO EARTHQUAKES OCCUR VERY OFTEN? YES!!!!

HOW OFTEN DO EARTHQUAKES OCCUR?

There are always earthquakes occurring somewhere in the world. Millions of small (too small to be felt) earthquakes happen in a year, while major earthquakes happen, on average, about once in a year. The graph shows the relative frequency of various magnitude earthquakes (using the common Richter Magnitude scale - also shown) and the equivalent amount of high explosive required to produce the same amount of energy release as the earthquake (using the KG's of explosive scale also shown). Several earthquake updates from history and some natural and man-made explosions are shown for reference.

Wow, I never imagined there were this many earthquakes going on. It would be helpful, I think, if you could add the richter scale value of the earthquakes - at least it would help reduce anxiety if they are something below 5 (or even 4). What richter value is considered reportable? At what richter value is the earthquake felt?
