Learning a Second Language is Fun with Music

Learn a Foreign Language the Fun and Easy Way!
An earworm is a jingle or tune that gets stuck in your head and you couldn't forget it even if you wanted to. Wouldn't it be great if it was that easy to learn a second language?
Earworms language learning
This is exactly what the team behind Earworms Rapid Language Learning audio packs set out to achieve. These audio language courses can be played anywhere, in the home, car or beyond. But the interesting thing about them is that there are no lessons, just key words and phrases that are repeated against a background of catchy music. This makes them get stuck in your head just like the chorus of a favorite song, and makes language learning effortless!
Now part of Berlitz
This innovative and exciting approach to language learning has now been acquired by the foreign language teaching specialist, Berlitz. They loved the concept so much they wanted to put their name on it.
Why I recommend Earworms for fun language learning
Me? I'm not part of Berlitz and don't know any of the Earworms team. However, I wanted to learn German and out of curiosity I bought an Earworms German course from Amazon. My whole family were impressed by how easy -- and how fun -- it was to pick up all the essential travel phrases from simply having this CD playing in the background. I liked it so much I bought a Spanish one for another family member and she and her kids loved it! They played it in the car on the way home from school and all joined in.
I have spent many years studying other languages and know how frustrating it can be. Anything that makes learning another language this much fun is well worth recommending.

Amazon reviewers gave this 5 stars. The following is an excerpt of J.E Kenney's review:
Five stars! A product superior to other language CDs. With music playing in the background, the lessons are far more engaging and memorable. I play it in my car, and on my computer. Those familiar with brain science and learning know that the more modes used for introducing new concepts, the more likely information will be retained. Add repetition and a pleasant experience, and retention is reinforced. The speakers in this series are upbeat and friendly, teaching words and phrases anyone can use in a French-speaking environment. A pamphlet is included with spelling and pronunciation. I have ordered the Rapid French 2 CD as well .... Everything seems more interesting and easier to remember when set to pleasant rhythms.
Why learn a foreign language?
There are so many good reasons!
Learning a new language opens a door onto a whole new culture and way of seeing the world. That in itself makes any language learning you can do before you travel well worth the effort.
More reasons to learn another language:
It's polite to at least try to speak to people in their own language instead of hoping they will know yours.
You will have a more relaxed, less stressful travel experience if you understand something of what you read and hear around you.
You will have a greater possibility of getting to know local people.
It is a fun challenge to learn another language and keeps your brain active as an adult.
It broadens your horizons and opens up new opportunities.

How Earworms can help YOU
Change your mind about language learning
I have met many people who have learned languages and many others who refused to. They found it boring, or were scared of being mocked, or just found it too difficult.
Why people fail at language learning AND what makes Earworms effective
OK, let's look at these and some other reasons why many adults struggle with language learning.
1. Boredom -- Language learning needs repetition, and that's boring, right? Yes, but Earworms takes that repetition and makes it fun by setting it to music. So, like the songs on the radio, either you enjoy hearing it again and again or at the very least it takes a lot longer to get bored of it.
2. Fear -- I can sympathize with this. Nothing is more off-putting than struggling to say a word and feeling that other people are laughing. The rhythmic presentation of Earworms encourages correct pronunciation and is in this respect so much more helpful than seeing a word on a piece of paper or even hearing it on a 'repeat once and move on' style audio language course.
3. Frustration -- Listen to your Earworms language pack in privacy (actually, if you listen to it in public, don't be surprised if others around you start joining in and learning the language themselves!). Go at your own pace by listening as often as you need to.

Other languages you can learn
Impress your friends and family with your new language skills!
Imagine how it will be when someone asks, "What other languages do you speak?" You will be able to answer, "Oh, a little Chinese, some Arabic, and conversational Greek!"
Or be the one who gets to go on business to Japan because you are the only one to speak the language.
You could even practice in secret and impress someone special by your new knowledge of their native tongue.

- This is fascinating, I had no idea such a thing existed. Makes good sense, though. Earworms are infectious. Wouldn't work for the other language I'm fluent in, but not many systems help you learn Sign Language apart from actually being there. Books on ASL are almost impossible...
Have you tried, and do you have an opinion (pos or neg) about the Rosetta Stone program?
