Classic or kitschy, the Easter bonnet deserves a comeback
"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it," goes the classic Irving Berlin tune, "You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade." Although the song is before my time, it was one of my holiday faves from childhood. I loved the idea of a festive, flower-bedecked hat for Easter, and as a little girl I often wore one.
Is there still a place for the gloriously frivolous Easter bonnet in today's faster-paced world? I hope so! Here, some ideas for keeping the tradition alive :)

Yes! Someone still makes a true Easter bonnet!
As a child I would have been thrilled to wear this lush, pretty Easter bonnet to church. From the VioletsVelvetBox shop on etsy, it comes in pink & white, all white, or lavendar and fits ages 1 to 6, approximately. Sigh! Or start with a simple pink Easter bonnet...
I"m spoiled now (sigh again) by seeing the design above, but if the budget is tight, a little pink Easter bonnet like this is still fun and festive for the holiday. If you like, decorate with some fresh, dried, silk or paper flowers.
Or pick paper....
This Easter bonnet craft from familyfun.com is made with supplies -- like paper plates & bowls -- you might already have at home. While perhaps not appropriate for church, depending on how formal your congregation is, a paper Easter bonnet is perfect for egg hunts and all but the stuffiest Easter dinners. Crafty? Baby Easter bonnet
A simple ruffled baby bonnet works just fine for Easter, but if spring can be chilly in your neck of the woods, try this adorably floppy fleece hat. Way too cute!
