Easter Crafts

You've managed to distract the kids with an elaborately executed Easter egg hunt for an hour or so, but the house and yard are only so big and there are only so many eggs you can hide away. Sooner or later someone is going to win, or nobody will because you made the eggs too darn hard to find (trying to keep them occupied for as long as possible but backfiring), but either way the egg hunt is going to come to an end and the kids will no longer be amused. So now what do you do egg-sactly?

How to Keep them Occupied?

You supply them with entertaining Easter crafts, of course. Coloring Easter eggs never gets old. Boil a bunch of eggs, and then get some Easter egg dye kits. With old-school egg dying you used to just have a metal ring to hold the egg and dip in into the dye for a solid colored Easter egg and that was already amazing in itself but these days you don't get just color anymore, you can actually decorate your Easter eggs with all sorts of crazy patterns and designs: tie-dye, checkers, kitsch, polka dots and more using other dying materials like stencils and crepe paper.
People of the younger generation don't know how good they have it. Anyway, another good thing about painting eggs as Easter crafts is that they're like an artsy activity and a meal in one because you can peel the shell and eat them afterward: that is, if your child can bear to let you destroy one of their beautiful creations. You'll have more luck if you eat the practice Easter eggs or the ugly ones, or if your kids went completely Easter egg dye-happy and popped out so many that it won't matter if a couple of them go missing.

Or there are other Easter crafts that don't involve sacrificial feasting, like making cute little Easter baskets, Easter hats, Easter bunny paraphernalia, and much, much more. Look on the internet and you'll be bombarded with suggestions. Some Easter crafts sites even have people rating each project so that you know which ones are worthwhile and that your kids are more likely to enjoy. Once you've decided which craft ideas you want to share with the children, you can collect the necessary materials at a local crafts shop or make do with supplies from home. A simple brown paper bag could make a good Easter Bunny puppet, for example, or even a thrifty basket. Encourage your kids to be creative and more importantly, encourage them to have fun!

Easter has always been one of those holidays where it's more about having fun than spending a lot of money.

Easter Coffee Can Crafts for Kids

Easter is a fun holiday for doing crafts with your kids, and there are many great recyclable items you can use for Easter crafts. Coffee cans are durable and perfect mediums for many kid crafts, and this article will provide you with detailed instructions on creating several Easter coffee can crafts with your kids.

Easter Bunny

You can make an adorable Easter bunny decoration with your kids using a coffee can. For this craft you will need white paint, a white foam sheet, glue, black paint, blue paint, pink paint, and a paintbrush. Newspaper and scissors will also come in handy for this craft.
Start by placing the coffee can on top of a sheet of newspaper, and help your kids paint the entire thing white. While it is drying cut two ear shapes out of the white foam. You can create ear shapes by cutting two thin long rectangles and curving the ends into points. Help kids paint the inside of the ears pink, and allow them to dry.

When the can has completely dried add a bunny face using the paint. This can be done easily by painting a pink heart shape for the nose, and a rounded W shape for the mouth. Make sure the middle line of the W shape starts from the bottom point of the nose. Next help kids paint whiskers coming out of the nose and two blue circles for eyes. Add a black circle in the middle of the blue for an iris and some eyelashes.
Finally glue the ears onto the can and when it is dry this cute coffee can Easter bunny will make a perfect decoration for your home.

Easter Basket

You can create a custom Easter basket with your kids while recycling your old coffee can. For this project you will need paint, paintbrushes, newspaper, scissors, glue, sequins, and a foam sheet. Start by spreading out the newspaper and removing the coffee can lid. Next allow kids to cover the entire can with paint; remember to use pastel colors to stick with the Easter theme.
While the paint dries help your kids cut a two inch strip from the foam sheet to create a handle for your basket. Glue the handle to the top of the coffee can and add the sequins as decoration. When everything is dried your coffee can Easter basket will be ready to be filled with fake grass and delicious treats.

There are many fun and easy Easter crafts you can do with kids, but why not try to recycle while you are at it. These coffee can crafts are great for kids and Easter so try them this holiday!

Recycled Milk Jug Easter Crafts and Decorations

You can use recycled milk jugs to make fun Easter crafts and decorations, and it is rewarding and important to use recycled items when creating crafts projects. Milk jugs are something that many people throw away, but they can be turned into many festive holiday décor items. This article will provide you with detailed instructions on creating recycled milk jug Easter crafts.

Easter Basket
You can make an Easter basket easily and cheaply using a recycled milk jug and your imagination. For this project you will need brown or beige paint, a paintbrush, scissors, a razor, a marker, and a stapler. It is helpful to have newspaper to place your milk jug on as the paint is applied and dries.

Start by cutting the milk jug in half, and remember to cut the milk jug right below the handle to make a good sized handle from the left over piece. Cut a strip a strip out of the top half of the milk jug going up toward the mouth and around back again to the bottom of the other side. Staple the handle to the basket.

Using the paint and the paintbrush decorate the Easter basket in a basket weave pattern. There are several different styles you can choose, and you can research different patterns on the Internet if you like. You can also go for a more natural look and paint a woven branch style basket if you like. When the paint has dried on your Easter milk jug craft fill it with other fun Easter decorations.

Papier-mâché Easter Egg
You can make an awesome Easter egg decoration using Papier-mâché and a recycled milk jug. For this craft you will need newspaper, flour, water, a milk jug, paint, and paintbrushes. Start this craft by ripping the newspaper into strips. You will also need to mix the flour and water until it is like pancake batter.

Place the recycled milk jug on a piece of newspaper and dip the strips of newspaper into the flour and water mixture. Cover the milk jug with the paper until the milk jug is transformed into the shape of a giant Easter egg. Now allow the egg to dry overnight.
When the Easter egg is done drying, you can use the paint and paintbrushes to add designs and details to the egg. Remember pastel colors are customary for Easter, but feel free to paint your Easter egg in fun colors and patterns. This recycled milk jug Easter craft is a fun decoration that you can use for years to come.

Recycled milk jugs are the perfect tool for creating several Easter crafts and decorations, and these ideas are just the start of all the fun recycled Easter crafts you can create. So break out the old milk jugs and get crafty!
