I got this book for my 5 year old daughter and 5 year old niece. They both love to make things and loved the items in this book. My daughter wanted to make so many things for each holiday, we didn't come close to making all of them. There are some items that are a bit lame, but the others make the book worth it. I only had to buy a few low cost craft items like felt squares, pipe cleaners, ribbon, and the like to make the items in the book. Everything else we had in the house (egg cartons, construction paper, material scraps, ...).
If you have "crafty kids" this is a good idea book for them. It would also be good for preschools, elementary schools, and churches.
Easter Ornaments and Decorations
fun with decorating and "cooking"
Make some homemade playdough (the easy kind)
It's really simple. Here's what you need:
2 parts flour
1 part salt
2 parts water
a big bowl
a spoon
Mix them all together and Viola playdough. You can tweak it with a little extra flour or water depending on the consistency you need.
You can add food coloring to the water to color the playdough, or you can leave it plain.
NOW for the real fun.
Give you little one a rolling pin and some cute cookie cutters.
Let them roll out the dough and cut out the shapes. Poke a hole in each of the "cookies" let them dry overnight, flipping so both sides will dry.
Then thread with some yarn or ribbon and hang!

Easter Crafts for Kids ~ Dying Easter Eggs the Natural Way!
This Easter, why not color your eggs using nature's very own dyes? It's possible to come up with a great number of colors using natural ingredients that can easily be found in almost any kitchen.
Pale Red: Fresh beets or cranberries, frozen raspberries
Orange: Yellow onion skins
Light yellow: Orange or lemon peels, carrot tops, celery seed or ground cumin
Yellow: Ground turmeric
Pale green: Spinach leaves
Green-gold: Yellow Delicious apple peels
Blue: Canned blueberries or red cabbage leaves
Beige to brown: Strong brewed coffee
To dye the perfect Easter eggs the natural way, here's what to do:
1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pan. Cover eggs with water
2. Add a teaspoon of vinegar.
3. Add the natural dye material for the color you want your eggs to be. (The more eggs you dye at once the more dye material you will need to use.)
4. Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
5. Remove the dye material. Remove eggs and put them in a bowl. If you want your eggs to be a darker shade, cover them with the dyed water and let them stand overnight in the refrigerator.
