Chocolate Easter Egg Recipes
Why would you go and buy them in store when you can easily make some at home. Making chocolate easter eggs at home can be fun for the whole family. Easter egg recipes are just perfect for a fun afternoon. They are simple, tasty, and easy for the kids to help with. And the best part is you can make and decorate your easter eggs as you wish, your imagination is the only limit.
They are also easy to make all year round. Shape them differently to make truffles or candies for Christmas or staring eyeballs for Halloween.
Homemade chocolate easter eggs can be a nice addition to an already great easter party and it doesn't take long to make them. Just make sure your kids won't eat them before you complete them all. Who could blame them, I can't resist chocolate either.
There are so many recipes out there that it sometimes is difficult to decide which one to use. Here I present to you some chocolate easter egg recipes which I think are perfect to help you complement your easter basket. Unlike most commercial easter eggs you buy in stores, these easter eggs are not hollow, which makes them even a bigger treat.

Chocolate Covered Easter Eggs
- Serves: 48 Eggs
- Prep Time: 30 minutes
- Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 25 g vegetable oil
- 225 g softened cream cheese
- 115 g softened butter
- 335 g semisweet chocolate pieces
- 1130 g confectioners' sugar
- 85 g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 75 g flaked coconut
- 260 g creamy peanut butter
- 5 ml vanilla extract
Instructions
Mix together the butter, vanilla, and cream cheese in a large bowl. Stir in the sugar so you can make a workable dough. If you want to get the perfect dough, you will have to use your hands for mixing. Don't be afraid to get them a little dirty.
You will have to divide the dough into four parts. Leave one of the parts plain. Mix in the peanut butter into the second one. Mix the coconut into the third part, and cocoa powder into the last one. Now roll each type of dough into egg shapes, and place them on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate them for at least an hour, so they get hard.
You Choose the Add-ins
The beauty of the above recipe is, you can mix in whatever you wish. Instead of peanut butter or cocoa you can use whatever your taste buds desire. You just divide the dough into as many parts as different flavors you intend to make.
Below you have a list of some suggestions on what to mix in, which one is your favorite?
