Adopt a Decorated Easter Tree as New Holiday Tradition this Year
Decorated Easter trees have become a tradition in the United States less than two centuries ago however, many European countries used to decorate trees on Easter time for a long time. For example, Germany and Austria used to decorate Easter trees with painted Easter eggs for both indoor and outdoor use. In some other European areas, we used to decorate an Easter tree that we place in our home, just like we do with our Christmas tree.
Naturally, while some certainly decorate evergreen trees with painted Easter eggs, we generally use branches with buds, like Forsythia branches - remember, Easter is celebrated in the spring - as it's a symbol of the renewal of the nature. Some stores even sell such trees in pots especially for Easter time.
While Germans decorate their Easter trees with natural decorated eggs, you can hang all sorts of decorations on your Easter tree: rabbits, trains, chicks, and so on. Would you want to start this lovely tradition in your own family? Then, you have come to the right place.

How to Make an Easter Tree with Natural Elements
Homemade Easter trees are always the best!

Making your own Easter tree is really easy to do in that a tree on Easter time just requires a few materials that you certainly have on hand and it's also a fun project to make with the kids as it involves a short walk in the nature.
Here's how to create your very own outstanding Easter tree at home.
- Since making an Easter tree will require some branches, go for a walk in the park or the forest with the kids and find natural budding branches (or bare branches)
- Choose the height of your future Easter tree and cut branches to the length you wish
- If you want to create a colored Easter tree, spray the branches with acrylic pastel paintings otherwise leave them as they are
- Place the branches in a vase or a container depending which can carry their size and weight
- Decorate your container with an Easter theme (use spring-y paintings, stickers and ribbons)
- Hang tiny Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks and other symbols on the branches
- If you wish, add a pastel string LED light to your new Easter tree
Personally, I gathered natural small branches which I place in a vase on the center of the dining table and decorate with tiny crystal eggs, wooden bunnies and chicks. If my Easter tree is only 20 inches tall it is mostly because the room is quite small, but if you have a big room, you're not limited in the size of your Easter tree and may want to make a tall one.

How to Make an Easter Egg to Decorate your Easter Tree
Homemade Easter eggs will decorate your tree with perfection!
Although Easter eggs are the favorite decorating items to decorate an Easter tree, as said earlier, people hang many different types of decorations on their Easter trees. For example, in addition to hand blown glass Easter eggs (which I got from a wonderful American friend), I hang miniature trains, rabbits, chicks on my Easter branches. But you can go further and use any type of decoration as long as they're Easter and spring related and small enough to not cause the tree to fall over..
How to make a natural ornamental Easter egg?
Making a natural Easter egg isn't as hard as it might look.
Here's the materials you need:
- Some fresh eggs
- A sewing needle
- Colorful paints
- Paint brushes
- Tissue paper
- Colorful ribbon
- Transparent thread
- Craft glue
Directions to make easter ornamental eggs:
- Clean the eggs - with the sewing needle, gently pin the top and bottom of the eggs in order to create two tiny holes
- Breath in one hole to blow the white and yolk out of the the other hole
- Use craft glue to close the tiny holes
- Gently paint the egg shell - remember eggs are extremely fragile
- When eggs have dried, stick a ribbon on top of each egg with some craft glue
That's it! You now have a nice collection of natural ornamental Easter eggs to use year after year if you keep them in a safe place after Easter time.

Bring Easter in the Yard and Decorate your Outdoor Trees and Plants this Easter
Outdoor Easter decorating ideas
Chickens, roosters, egg baskets, bunnies, etc. make fantastic decorations for your Easter tree, just like I said above. You can even create your own personalized Easter decorating items; for example, crochet or knit some Easter egg ornaments, they'll definitely provide your Easter tree with a personalized look.
But there's more... Transform the trees in your yard into Easter trees. Doing this is quite easy and will make Easter time even more fun: just hang some decorations onto the trees, add a few garlands made out of pastel painted macaroni or pop corn, some pastel colored ribbons, a few painted Easter eggs, some white lilies, a few bells and, in no time, you'll have a marvelous Easter display in the garden or in the front yard.
You're not limited in decorating trees for Easter as you can even decorate your patio plants with Easter ornaments. In reality, when it comes to Easter trees, the sky's the limit. Happy Easter!
