Nauset Light
Cape Cod's famous Nauset Light, located at Nauset Light Beach
Above: A view of Nauset Light from down the road, near the parking lot of Nauset Light Beach. This lighthouse is easily accessible via Route 6 to Brackket Road, a quick left on Nauset Road, a right on Cable Road, and a left on Nauset Light Beach Road. While you're there, you might as well spend a couple of hours at the beautiful beach, which is part of the protected Cape Cod National Seashore.
Nauset Light in Eastham was previously Chatham Light. The light from Chatham was relocated to Nauset, which was then in turn relocated inland to prevent the historic structure from collapsing into the beach below due to erosion.

First Encounter Beach
Eastham's most famous beach - the Pilgrims first encounter with the Nauset tribe
The most famous beach in the town of Eastham is First Encounter Beach. You'll find signs directing you to the beach from Route 6. This beach is ideal for little kids, and anyone looking to just enjoy a relaxing day without pounding waves (which you could encounter on the opposite side of Eastham). The beach is called First Encounter Beach because it is where the Mayflower landed, with the Pilgrims having their first encounter with the local Nauset Indian tribe at the beach. Parking is reasonable at $15 per day. Like all of the Cape Cod Bay beaches, this is kid friendly and has large tidal flats. The low tide extends out seemingly forever. Eastham, known as the land of the first light, is an ever-changing place. Although Europeans began visiting these shores early in the 1600s, the areaís first inhabitants lived here over seven thousand years ago. In 1620, Mayflower passengers and crew had their first encounter with the Nawsett Indians over the theft of corn. From the mid-1800s to the 1960s, sails were replaced by engines.
