Easy and Healthy Chinese Crab Rangoon Recipe | Resep Pangsit Keju

Crab Rangoon
One of the most popular American-Chinese appetizers is crab rangoon, deep fried wonton (Chinese dumpling) or pangsit goreng keju (Indonesian) filled with cream cheese, crab meats or commonly imitation crab meats and spring onions. It's not clear whether this dish is originated from China or other Asian country since cheese is not common in Asian cuisine. I think this dish was created by Chinese immigrants in North America to cater western palates.
This appetizer is very easy to make. If you can boil water then you can make crab rangoon. What you need are decent cream cheese and crab meat. I use crab meat than imitation crab meat. Combination of soft silky cream cheese, flaky crab meat and crunchy wonton wrappers make this snack is unforgettable. This recipe is fun to make with your kids. Great taste and of course better than Chinese take out crab rangoon with fake crab meat.

Healthy Crab Rangoon Recipe
For healthier snack, I prefer baked crab rangoon than deep fried one

Ingredients:
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz crabmeat, drain
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
3 tbps finely chopped spring opnions
wonton wrapper
butter for brushing
Method:
In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients except wonton wrapper and butter. Add salt or sugar if its needed.
Get one wonton wrapper, put 1 teaspoon cream cheese filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Brush little bit water at edges of wonton wrapper. Fold in half to form triangle shape little pillow. Press edges to seal. Repeat with the rest wonton wrappers. Cover crab rangoon puffs and wonton wrappers with plastic to keep them moist.
Get one baking sheet, spray with vegetable spray and arrange crab rangoon puffs on it. Brush with melted butter. Bake in oven at 400F for about 15-20 minutes or until it's golden brown. Serve with sweet and sour sauce or mustard or your favorite dipping sauces.
