Easy Crafts for Young Children

Kids Love Crafts

Here is a collection of crafts I did with my kids at home when they were preschoolers. I think this is the best time for crafting because they are so curious and creative then. This collection of crafts are very easy to do and suitable for young children. You can do these crafts anytime and not only for a rainy day.

For example, the art you see here was done by my son when he was about 4 or 5 years old. He drew a small car. We scrunched up colored crepe paper or tissue paper and pasted them in rows over his car drawing. When used on a black construction paper as the background, the results are amazing and its really easy to do.

I hope you enjoy the list of easy crafts for young kids below.

Crayon Resist Painting

Crayon Resist PaintingCrayon Resist Painting is very magical. This is because watercolors resist crayons so first have your child draw a picture using crayons, then paint over with watercolors for the magical transformation. Mirror Image Painting

Many of us had learned this Mirror Image Painting when we were young. It is a fun and easy art to do with young children. Just paint on one side, fold and ....... your Mirror Image Picture turns into a beautiful picture like magic! This one is a butterfly but we have painted twins before. That was fun too!

I think everyone knows how to make this art. Just paint on one side, fold the paper and unfold. If you would like to get some tips on how to make it better, drop me a comment and I will send you the link.

Make time for Art!

Set aside a special time or day for art. The kids really look forward to this time.

Food Art

BatikI call this Food Art because we used food to create them. Can you guess what food or vegetables we used to paint this picture? The end results looks like a lovely piece of batik doesn't it?

The answer is in the link below together with step by step instructions on how to do this art. Did you guess the vegetables correctly?

For very young children, you will have to help carve out the vegetables but older children can try to carve the patterns on the vegetables themselves. That will make it double the fun for them.
