Quick, Easy and Last Minute Halloween Costumes

With a bit of imagination and a little time, you can create a variety of easy Halloween costumes. Many of these ideas include using just a few items, items you have at home or items that you can reuse or recycle as a Halloween Costume.

Many of these costumes can also be put together at the last minute from what you have on hand.

Remember that your Halloween costume (or your child's) this year may be as close as the clothes in your closet, the nearest thrift store or items that you might be planning on throwing out as trash.

13 Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Children 

  1. Zombie Kid, Cheerleader, Prom Queen
    * Takes old clothes, old cheerleader outfit or an old dress.
    * Cut with scissors.
    * Add scary dark makeup.
  2. Marshmallow
    * Create holes in the bottom and sides of a white trash bag.
    * Stuff with newspaper, old packing materials.
  3. Decorate a Box - Television, Computer, Special Delivery
    * An old box can be turned into many different items. Let your imagination run wild. A Television set, a Computer screen, a Box of Cereal or Crackers, a special delivery package.
  4. Arachnid (Spider) or other Bug
    * Create holes in the bottom and sides of a black garbage bag.
    * Stuff with newspaper, old packing materials.
    * Cut more black garbage bags length wise to create legs.
    * Roll up garbage bag length wise and stuff.
    * Create eyes, black widow hour glass out of paper and add.
  5. Sea Trash (Thanks to Monterey Bay Aquarium)
    * Take some old netting or other item (trash bag) that can have things stuck to or tied to it.
