Easy Halloween Costumes to Make

Now come on, could there be anything easier to make for Halloween than a ghost costume? You don't even need a mask or fancy make-up, all it takes is a big white sheet. This Halloween costume works no matter what age you are.

1. Take a large, inexpensive white sheet. If the costume is for a kid, you might need to cut the sheet down before you start.

2. Find the center by folding the sheet in half, and then in half again. Mark center point. This will be where the top of your head goes.

3. Place on the person the costume is intended for. Pin up the edges of the sheet where they brush the ground. No need to cut them just yet, you might decide to make a ragged edge or to have a little extra sheet trailing behind.

4. Now gently mark with a pen where the eye holes need to be. Your 'model' should help with this as you don't want to poke them in the eye. For a child, be sure to mark the mouth too. Kids need to know they can breathe normally and probably want to be able to eat without a lot of fuss and bother. If for an adult, it still makes sense to have a small hole or slit through which to at least sip a drink!

5. Take off sheet. Decide whether you want a tattered hemline or a trailing one, and cut away accordingly.

6. Admire your ghost costume. Spooky!

Another writer on Squidoo shared with me that her favorite Halloween costume was a gypsy. This really is the perfect costume. After all, a gypsy fortune teller is full of Halloween mystery with her crystal ball and tarot card prophecies.

It also happens to a super easy Halloween costume to make, and one that does not need to involve expensive purchases of items that you will only wear one night of the year.

At its simplest, a gypsy Halloween costume can be a long skirt (even better if it is ruffled or you have a frilled underskirt or petticoats) with a peasant blouse or similar top. Then simply pile on the bangles and beads, and put on a pair of large hoop earrings.

A bandana completes the look and you can add some bright lipstick and dark eye make-up for that mysterious gypsy charm. Oh and paint your nails scarlet or get some false ones.

There... in only a few minutes, you have a gypsy Halloween costume! Easy!

Sometimes you have a brilliant idea for a Halloween Couple's Costume, only to find that HE just won't consider it. You know how it is, some guys love dressing up and some, well, anything other than jeans is way too formal no matter what the occasion. What do do when your man won't wear a Halloween costume?

Actually, it's not so tricky. If he goes as a cowboy, you have an incredibly easy Halloween costume to make -- and he gets to stay in his jeans! Even better, you can look cute as a cowgirl. Problem solved!

To put this easy Halloween outfit together, once again you need to think accessories. In addition to your blue jeans, you'll need a denim or check shirt each. Add a wide leather belt with a big buckle, a leather or denim vest or jacket, and a red bandana for your neck.

Cowboy boots are a great finishing touch if you have them or can buy them cheaply.

Now add a cowboy hat each and your easy Halloween couple costume is complete!

This one is a little unusual, but believe me, any girl who loves pink and glitter will adore a Halloween flower costume. Ideal for a little girl who doesn't like scary things or for very little ones who don't have much patience with dressing up.

It's a very easy Halloween costume to make for a little girl who already owns a leotard and a ballet skirt.

Simply help her to draw and cut out some flower petals in her favorite color from some inexpensive shimmery fabric or craft paper. Attach firmly with glue or stitches to a piece of elastic that will fit snugly around her waist, and she can wear it over her ballet skirt.

A pair of green pantyhose (tights) is perfect for a flower stem.

Then all you need is a headband to which you can glue some paper petals that are stiff enough to stand up on their own. And there you have it, a pretty Halloween flower costume made with items you probably already had at home.
