Homemade Beer: It's Easy with a Beer Brewing Kit!

The good news is it is easier than ever to make homemade beer, especially with a beer brewing kit. There has been a steady increase in the homebrewing market and the industry has responded. There are many great books, e-books, video tutorials, and beer brewing kits out there to choose from that can get the beginning home brewer on their way quickly without spending too much money.

3 Things You Should Know Homemade Beer

Most people think homemade beer is difficult and expensive. But the truth is:

1) The start-up costs are NOT astronomical!
2) The actual process to brew your own beer is NOT overly complicated.
3) It IS possible to create great-tasting beer at home!

How To Make Beer at Home

basic steps to give you an idea of what you are in for....

The basics of how to make homemade beer are described below. You can make the process very simple (using beer brewing kits) or very complex, depending on your experience and what type of beer you are brewing.

1. Clean and sanitize all equipment and bottles.
2. Create the wort (unfermented beer).
3. Transfer to a fermenter (large holding tank).
4. Take a hydrometer reading, for a base reading.
5. Add yeast and seal the fermenter.
6. Allow beer to ferment - time varies based on various conditions.
7. Take another hydrometer reading to make sure the fermentation is complete.
8. Bottle the beer (this is usually considered the most tedious and boring part of brewing your own beer.)
9. Condition the beer for about 2 weeks - usually best to store where you stored the fermenter.
10. Clean and sanitize all equipment - this makes step one easier next time.
11. Chill your beer to your preference, take off cap, and ENJOY!!!

Easy Homemade Beer with Beer Brewing Kits

Beer Brewing Kits - What Are They?

The easiest way to start making your own beer at home is with a beer brewing kit. Now, if you search the web you'll find that there are two different types of beer making kits:

1. the kind that contain everything you'll need (equipment, ingredients, instructions).
2. the kind that contains only the ingredients for a particular style of beer.

There are several beer brewing kits that contain just about everything you need to start making your own beer. These kits range in price from $45 to $150 and you can usually get 1 to 3 batches of beer from the initial kit ingredients. Now it should be noted that some of the beer brewing kits kind of abbreviate some of the processes that a homebrewer does with standard equipment, such as boiling the malt to create the wort. These "complete" beer brewing kits are geared to get you started easily and quickly.

The other type of beer brewing kits, which you can get at almost any online or physical homebrewing store, allow you to create a multitude of beers by providing the ingredients for a particular beer. As you progress in your homebrewing, you'll probably want to buy individual ingredients to really customize and experiment with your beers.

Helpful Hints for A Great Homemade Beer

1. The most unglamorous part, but one of the most important factors for good-tasting beer - Clean & Sterilize ALL of your equipment. If you do not, your beer will not taste good - PERIOD.

2. Water quality is very important. If you do not brew with good water, your beer won't be as good as it could be. You may want to look into using bottled or distilled water if your tap water is no good.

3. Always make sure the wort is the right temperature before adding the yeast - too warm and it'll kill the yeast; too cold and the yeast won't start fermenting.

4. Always make sure you ferment at the right temperature. It is very important that you don't leave your beer to ferment in a place of great temperature fluctuations.

5. Use the hydrometer, not just how long the beer has been fermenting, to check when your beer is ready to bottle.
