5 Easy Internet Marketing Ideas to Use & Share with all Your Friends

Who doesn't appreciate easy internet marketing ideas? I know that I do! I've collected a bunch of fun and easy-to-implement activities that I use in my campaigns - and not just my Squidoo campaigns! ...Although we ALL know that Squidoo is King and Queen of the Sea :) ...Right? :)

Ummm... There IS one keyword, however that I hope you saw up front. "Implement." That implies "action." Nothing happens without taking some action.

Right? Right!

As PT Barnum is attributed with saying, "Without promotion, something terrible happens...Nothing!"

So, a product or service cannot promote itself. Someone has to promote it in order for others to see it or hear about it. If they don't see it or hear about it, they can't buy it!

Since promotion and marketing cannot happen on its own, it is up to YOU and ME to do it.

And that takes action.

So, this lens is going to share 5 SMALL ACTION STEPS that will be EASY for you to act on immediately. This can be especially helpful on those days where you might be needing a little motivation or some small steps that will show that you took some ACTION!

Quick Comparison: Action vs Activity

Wow! I found a great Squidoo URL! I'll use it!I really don't think that people emphasize this quite enough. There is a difference between an ACTIVITY and ACTION.

When you hear all about the various successful internet marketing education and leaders out there, what you may NOT be "hearing" is that these guys are ACTION oriented versus ACTIVITY oriented.

Let's look at creating a Squidoo lens, for example...
1) You have an idea for a lens. So you write down your idea. That's an Activity. YES, it took some action - actually WRITING down the idea. But, you can sit there and write down ideas all day long and still not be any closer to CREATING your Squidoo lens. Right?
So, in my opinion, you have completed a few ACTIVITIES.

Remember, that ACTION is what brings you closer to ACCOMPLISHMENT.
Back to our Squidoo example:
2) You have an idea for a lens, and you have written down your ideas so you don't forget. :) NOW... You actually LOG INTO your Squidoo account, and you BUILD your lens. You get your URL, you add your text boxes, you begin writing content... you add a few photos. WHEW! That was a lot! That was ACTION!

What Activities are Considered ACTION?

So...When we talk about taking action, it does NOT include "sharpening your pencils" (We could all sure use some sharp pencils to help us get going, right?)

And I'm not talking about THINKING about action.

And I'm not talking about READING about action.

I'm talking about actually DOING something to move your business and marketing efforts forward.

Got it?

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #1 - Make an ACTION LIST!

Ok, it's ALMOST like "sharpening your pencils..."

Took me Less than 5 Minutes to Make this image! How much could you get done in 5 minutes or less?
More than you think!

How about making an actual ACTION LIST for starters?

Action Step 1: Get out a piece of paper, and grab a pencil.
Action Step 2: Brainstorm and write down a few Action Steps - stuff that you KNOW you can do in 10 minutes or less. Make sure that these are actual action items that can advance you towards your goals.
Action Step 3: Go ahead and DO one of these action items. Any one!

Just DO SOMETHING!

Oftentimes, it only takes a little "nudge" to get things moving in the right direction. If you find yourself feeling stuck, just go ahead and work on one tiny little action item.

Here are a couple of ideas to get your own list started (and you may find that as you are writing a list, you actually get spurred on to DO one of the steps before you're done!) (By the way - I'll bold face the "action words" here...
- Write the text for one of my Squidoo modules.
- Find a funny YouTube video for one of my lenses and add it.
- Send out a "Tweet" on Twitter with one of my links in it.
- Participate and post in an internet marketing forum for 10 minutes.

Got the idea?

You may find that as soon as you accomplish a small task, you feel energized and ready to go ahead and work on something with a little more "oomph" to it!

Try it! But the point is... DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING! :)

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #2 - "Do Follow" Blogs

A 10 Minute Activity

You CAN Write Article Ezine Submissions! You want to find blogs that allow you to post not only your name, but also your website.

Perhaps you want to get links back to one of your Squdoo lenses.

Perhaps you want to build links to a website where you're selling something. One of the ways to get links to those sites is to post thoughtful comments on "DoFollow Blogs" which allow you to include your own links.

Please note that the Keyword Phrase here is: THOUGHTFUL COMMENTS.

Action Step 1: Go over to Google and search "dofollow blogs" and find a list of some blogs that will allow you to comment and also publish your website information in your comment.
Action Step 2: Once you find a source of "DoFollow Blogs" - choose one that is related to your own interests or business, and find a blog post that intrigues you. Read it, learn from it, take a note or two, and then post a comment on the blog.

Important Note on This: When I say please be thoughtful and kind with your comment - I mean don't just spam the blog with gobbelty-gook junk that makes no sense. And please don't make your post self-serving. It helps no one, and the blogger will know you're just being a creepy and sleezy spammer with no intention of working toward the greater good, and will remove your comment.

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #3 - Post on Your OWN Blog

If you have a Blog... POST ON IT!

Visit my Self Development and Growth Blog for IdeasYou do already have a blog, don't you?

Action Step 1: Add a post to your own blog, and then publish it.
Action Step 2: Once you have published your post, send out a "Tweet" about how you updated your blog.

If you don't have a Twitter account, go get one. It's easy and it's free. All you need to do is go to www.Twitter.com and follow their easy-to-follow instructions and away you go!

By the way, if you do NOT have a blog, they are easy to start. There are some lensmasters here on Squidoo that I'll point you to for help! Simply scroll down to see three of the lenses I have visited and think might be helpful to you. :)

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #4 - List and Research Some Keywords

What Keywords are Your Customers Using?

Market Samurai Keyword AnalysisIf you have been doing any internet marketing at all, you are probably acquainted with "keywords" and "keyword phrases." Simply put, keywords are the terms people are using when they are searching the internet for this, that or the other thing.

The importance of choosing the right keywords for your internet marketing campaign cannot be overstated.

However, it is beyond the scope of this lens to go into the various steps necessary to determine which specific keywords will be most effective for your particular campaign. There is a great deal of free tutorials and valuable information on this topic at Market Samurai, the keyword analysis tool that I use personally, if you are interested.

For the purposes of this lens, just concentrate on a single forward-moving action. In this case, just get your creative powers moving!

Action Step 1: Write a quick list of keywords that you think your readers will be using to search for the type of information you are offering.
Action Step 2: Open up your favorite keyword research and analysis tool and research the viability of one keyword (researching too many will take more than 5 minutes!)

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #5 - Post a CraigsList Ad PART 1

Use Craigslist Judiciously!

BAD! BAD CraigsList Ad! SHAME!I love CraigsList. A LOT of people love CraigsList. I don't love it as much as I love Squidoo, but I still love it. And when you love something, you do not mistreat it, right? Right! So, when it comes to CraigsList (just like with Squidoo), don't fill it with garbage or spammy scammy stuff.

So, here are the basics of this Action Step - which really shouldn't take more than a few minutes (unless you don't have a CraigsList account - which is easily remedied within moments. Just follow their steps.)

Action Step #1: Open Craigslist (at www.Craigslist.com) and - if your product or service is local - go to your own state and region.
Action Step #2: Find the most appropriate category for your product or service, and click "Post" to begin placing your ad.
Action Step #3: Follow the very easy steps to complete and post your ad.

Voila! Done! And it takes less than 10 minutes (could be less than 5 minutes if you're feeling like you're on fire with motivation!)

Important Information to Read and Heed Hey, did you think I was kidding about avoiding CraigsList "spam?" I'm not. Read on for Part 2 of this tip, where I illustrated what I'm talking about...

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #5 - CraigsList PART 2

See This Photo? This Should NOT Be YOU!

Shame! BAD AD!

...Oh My Heavens! PLEASE Do Not Post An Ad Like I Have Shown in the Illustration!
In other words, don't "spam" CraigsList like so many desperate internet marketers do...(See Photo for an example of a BAD CraigsList Ad. Shame! Shame!)

Yes, I KNOW this is an exaggeration! I KNOW!

Far too many people abuse this mostly free resource. Look... If you have a work at home opportunity, that's fine - but PLEASE do NOT post it under any of the "Job Opening" categories.

That is just downright wrong and misleading, and you'll just join the ranks of people who either a) Get their ads flagged, or b) Unfairly lead people on who are looking for regular jobs (translate: They want to be employees, NOT necessarily "Self-Employees").

If you are advertising a business opportunity, guess what? There is a "Business Opportunity" section just for that purpose! And that's great!

However, I feel I MUST once again point your attention to the cute little CraigsList screenshot I created just for this module. This is TERRIBLE! Please do not hype your program. Please do not make ridiculous claims.

If you do such things, it puts you right smack dab into the icky scuzzy pool of sleezy people who use other people's email addresses to send them spam and scam ads for getting money from the Nigerian government or to try to sell them Viagra.

PLEASE... Rise above the temptation and use CraigsList for the better good. You'll feel a whole lot better about your internet marketing efforts! Really. Online Success IS Possible... And far more probable when you're doing it with integrity.

And please understand... I know most people don't advertise falsely. I'm just talking about those who do.

Please Continue to See Part 3 of this Tip in the Next Module...

Easy Internet Marketing Idea #5 - CRAIGSLIST - PART 3

Ahhhh... Isn't This One Better?

MUCH BETTER!

Ok, so the CraigsList ad that I created for this illustration is not "hypey" or all that colorful now, is it? But, it is HONEST.

C'mon folks... Don't you get tired of seeing ads (and emails) that promise you the moon? And, do you REALLY want to mislead potential business prospects or potential customers into thinking that they're honestly going to:
- build a "downline" of 200 people in a week
- have them driving that Porsche within a month
- lose 30 pounds within the next 2 weeks without any work
- etc, etc?

I may be the minority here, but I can only write what I feel truthfully about. And my take is that "less is more" in many cases. I would prefer an ad that is understated, but addresses reality.

I would be far more likely to click on an ad that tells me "Yes, work IS involved" than an ad that tells me I'll be "making money while I sleep."

Sure, once you have built up a business, residual income may come in whether you happen to be on the computer or not - but remember that you have to BUILD the business first. And so will your prospects.

So, see above for what I think is a little bit more truthful ad. Would it work? I have no idea... I just know what I would be more inclined to click on.

(And again, don't spam the CraigsList system. It's unattractive behavior, at best.)

Ok... I'll get off my little soapbox now...
