Formula for Successful Career Change Part 1
Simply stated there are only two things stopping you from making the successful career change you dream of - belief and action. Or in my terms: PMA + SMA = Career Change Success
But everyone goes on about PMA - Positive Mental Attitude, don't they? What does it mean?
To some extent we all have some influence over the things that happen to us. I don't mean to say that we can make everything work out right all of the time, but we can hold an attitude of expecting things to go right.
It also means belief in yourself; that you have the skills and experience; qualities and attributes that will benefit a new employer. The one who wins isn't necessarily the one who can, but the one who thinks he can. So if you are going to make that career change, you must think you can.
Belief in yourself is also about being true to yourself and your core values. It's not about short-term gains, 'acing' interviews or 'finessing' your way into a high-paying job that you've no real hope of holding down. The move you make must be consistent with your core values otherwise you won't achieve that all important career satisfaction. If you get there by the wrong means, you'll probably end up as one of the four in ten again!
So you should start your career change process by being clear in your mind about:
* what you really enjoy doing;
* what makes your work satisfying, great fun, fraught, or dull;
* what you're good at and want to continue doing;
* what's important to you;
* and how your decisions affect those close to you.
Find out how Positive Thinking can make all the difference.
Formula for Successful Career Change Part 2
What are the things you need to do?
* Follow all the advice you can get and be clear that you have the skills and capacity to present a compelling case to a new employer.
* Work out how you will make your case come alive by preparing scenarios and stories that colourfully illustrate how your experience brings value and benefits to the new organization.
* Be prepared for disappointment - you may not get there first time - but stay positive and don't just give up. Move on to the next one right away.
* Build up your network of people who can support, advise and challenge you; most people will be very pleased to help.
* Get your CV or resume updated and reviewed by someone you respect.
* Research potential businesses that may have the right type of opportunity, but are also likely to be consistent with your values.
* Ask questions at interview so you can gauge whether the opportunity is right or simply 'there'.
* Make sure your writing skills are up to the task of producing not only excellent application cover letters, but also carefully crafted target letters for the direct approach to employers.
* Be clear how you can access the 'unadvertised' jobs market, by networking, research and targeting.
* Maintain your confidence and optimism and never quit, give up or give in - you know you can do it, so keep going till you get there.
It will be worth it!

7 Steps To Career Success
What You Must Do To Make a Living Easily
If you don't know where to start when you want to change jobs or even your career, this is where you will find out. It's really just a matter of following these 7 Steps so you know what to do and when to do it. First off I'm going to tell you what the seven steps are, then over the next few entries I'll go into each one in detail and show you how to go about it. Remember we want to make a living easily.Stage 1 - Working Out What You Have Got to Offer.
That little piece of knowledge or bit of experience that others haven't got can make all the diference.
Stage 2 - What Can You Say About Yourself?
Talking about yourself isn't easy but a little practice will get you there.
Stage 3 - Who do You Know?
You might be surprised to find that someone you know, knows someone else that needs you.
Stage 4 - The Best CV or Resume Ever.
Is the one that shows you to be the right choice. Don't let it knock you out of the running. Keep to what is relevant and don't try to include everything you have ever done.
Stage 5 - Applying by Letter.
Keep it simple, the best letter is one page with a beginning, a middle and an end. Include examples of how you match up; best done with 4 or 5 bullet points from the original advert.
Stage 6 - Working the Market Place.
Don't just be a busy fool - use your time according to the payback you can expect. For example adverts only account for 25% of all successful job moves; therefore only allow 25% of your time on adverts.
Stage 7 - Winning the Interview Game.*Just Added
Certain types of questions will always crop up. Get answers to these interview questions prepared. Take some time to do this, advice is everywhere so take some.
Then make sure everything is in place and you haven't overlooked a detail.
These stages are all explained in full easy to follow detail in my e-book "7 Steps to Your Career Change". Learn more here: Premium Career Guides
With my background of over 25 years running businesses, and as a Career Coach and Consultant in many sectors, I guide job seekers through the steps needed in order to achieve that all important new position.
Stage 1 - What Have You Got To Offer?
Above all, what you will need is to have the desire to do it again.
For example:
* Convinced colleagues of the need to change working practices
* Launched the new product line in record time
* Reduced supply costs by 15%
* Taught my dad how to use his new computer
* Secured a 10% increase in sales by...
* Raised lots of money for a local charity through a new fund-raising event.
* Completed a two year part-time MBA course while balancing work and family commitments
Analyse what you did and think through to what skills you used when you did the thing you achieved i.e. how did I do that? What did I need to do it?
When you've done this, try this acid test - ask "So what" to each of your statements.
How do they look now?

Stage 2. What Can You Say About Yourself?
Self-Describing Skills are a Key Strength
Some have, but more often they haven't and the answer usually involves lots of head-scratching, umms and arrhs and then quite often a monologue on what they're NOT good at!!
Your answer to this should be your
"Key Strengths" statement which is a summary of your most powerful skills and attributes.
The Key Strengths statement
* Highlights your most important skills and abilities
* Differentiates you from others
* Avoids generalisations
* Provides examples of your achievements
* Spoken naturally should take no more than two minutes.
Of course at interview, the question may take many different forms:
"What are your main strengths?"
"why should we hire you?"
"what do you think makes you the best candidate?"
"convince me you're the right person for us"
"how do your skills match our particular needs?"
The example I've given you here should get you thinking so give your Key Strengths statement some thought now.
"I have very good communication skills; I work well either leading or being part of a team and I am self-motivated and capable of working on several tasks at once.
As a leader of small teams I involve people in the decisions so that they feel involved and ensure they have the opportunity to contribute to tasks facing the team. I manage the information, plan and organise and make the decisions as required.
With my strong communication skills, I have been able to motivate the staff to higher standards of performance meaning we have also helped our profits figures through increased sales and tighter cost-control.
Alongside this I have encouraged innovation and my team has produced several very good ideas for new products, services and markets. As an example the new widget has taken off in Eastern Europe and is contributing 7% of profits in less than 18 months.
Most importantly I actively seek to develop members of my team for their own careers sake but also for the future of the business itself. This means I also look for personal development opportunities to ensure my skills are kept up to date."
These key strengths statements naturally answer many of the interviewers questions whilst being reassuring in content.
Stage 3. Who Do You Know?
Networking Is The #1 Job Search Skill
Networking is the #1 most important skill you as a job seeker have to develop. I will show you how to work through the following issues so that you know:* How and why this will work for you;
* Who to contact;
* How to make contact and what to say;
* How to develop and grow your network.
Your aim is to meet people who can influence your thinking; people who can offer constructive advice on the type of job or career you are considering. You will already know some of the people you need to talk to but others you won't know yet.
Networking with known and new contacts creates a unique opportunity to practice your marketing message. It also allows you to get briefed on particular areas of interest and in doing so to gain a deeper understanding of the relevant issues.
When you've decided where you're headed it's so helpful to ask the question "if you were me..."
By meeting people and growing your network you have at hand the surest method of getting feedback on your ideas and clarifying your objectives.
But please when you use networking as an important part of your employment search don't mess up by giving the impression that you expect anything other than advice from your contact. This is the one thing everybody can give freely. If they think you're expecting them to give you a job you've blown your chance.
Oh! and another thing; the meeting is best face to face but don't expect anybody to agree to more than 20 minutes - so only ask for that. If when you're talking they say they're OK for longer then that's fine. But if not leave after 20, you can always go back again.
You can rely on networking to be a really powerful tool in your employment search, but take care when you plan your network meeting.

Stage 4. Creating The Best CV or Resume Ever
Write your own CV with the right guidance.
This is how you write a great CV or Resume.First of all make sure your name (as you are known) plus all of your contact details are at the top of the first page. Don't bury them in the 'header' because your email address won't be clickable.
Don't bother with the Curriculum Vitae label; it doesn't need it. It is what it is.
Don't bother with lots of colour or dividers; too much and they spoil the whole effect.
Next, include a short factual statement of the level at which you work coupled with an indication of the sector(s) you are experienced in and some key skill descriptors in all amounting to no more than four lines should set the tone of the reader's expectations. Do it this way rather than an opinion-based or 1st person statement of your profile.
What follows next on your sample reesume is a reverse chronological (most recent first) list comprising your employer's names with dates and job titles. Within each employment give a statement of purpose - in other words the reason you are employed - then show with bullet points how you fulfilled that purpose. If your bullet points start with an active verb and are quantified, the reader gets a powerful impression of someone who has done something. And therefore can probably do it again.
Repeat this going back through your employments, with less detail the further back you go.
Then add your qualifications or educational attainments, but only the significant ones plus any relevant memberships. You can use designatory letters (such as B.Sc C.Eng M.I.Mech.E.) against your name on the first page if they are relevant to your job application.
Finally you may add your personal details - age, d.o.b., marital status, health, mobility but do not add interests and hobbies; do not add referees names.
Want to know more? All you have to do is read my ebook The Ultimate CV.
What it won't do is offer you just the same old collection of How to Write a Resume or CV Tips - what it will do is to show you exactly what you need to do and how YOU need to do it. You will see what your sample resume should look like - with actual screenshots - and give you lots of brilliant idea
Stage 5. Applying By Letter
How To Create Massive Cover Letter Impact
Write your cover letter to create impact and interest. You may be the most talented finance manager, market analyst or horticulturalist but if that talent doesn't flow through your cover letter then you might as well forget it.This is not the time to submit a fact-laden covering letter that has no oomph! What you want is a sharply focused letter that demands attention like this:
Crisp white paper with clear black print is the starting point. Ensure all the address details are easy to spot and there are no errors or typos. Use a headline in bold to identify the job your cover letter refers to. Include the date and publication where you saw the advert. Address the letter formally.
You now have to catch their attention in such a way that they want to read on. (If they don't, you're out of the running anyway.)
Start by including the reader. Your first words which should be:
"Your advert..."
This turns their thoughts to the content they produced and OWN.
Extend this by adding how it interests you:
"Your advert really interests me..."
Say why you are interested:
"Your Advert really interests me because..." adding your reasons i.e. specific comments about their products and company reputation.
You have engaged the interest of the reader, so now start making your own case. Follow your comments about the employer's business with "...and I am confident that I have all of the skills and experience you require."
Just the use of a word like confident is enough to grow the stature of your application.
With a maximum of five bullet points you can summarise what these skills and experience are, relating them closely to the demands of the advertisement. Finally close your covering letter by referring to any instructions such as enclosing a CV or Resume, stating location preferences or salary details and say that you are looking forward to MEETING them at the interview stage. Of course you haven't been asked yet to attend an interview, but you must assume you will be called and why wouldn't they want to interview you?
View some sample cover letters and if you like those try these
Stage 6 Working the Market Place
Use Your Time Profitably
Don't just be a busy fool - use your time profitably and according to the payback you can expect. For example advertised vacancies only account for around 25% of all successful job moves; therefore only allow 25% of your time on adverts.It's too easy to be busy but going nowhere. The image shows the main ways of finding a new job and you should spend your time accordingly.
Stage 7 Winning The Interview Game
Be Better Prepared Than Your Interviewer
Preparing for your interview is something that must not be left to chance. Assuming that you had a good reason to apply for the job in the first place, you don't want to let yourself down by failing to prepare properly for the interview.
After all, they probably have other candidates who will have prepared.
This site is aimed at helping you make the most of your preparation, with sections on what to do before, during and after the interview. We'll also show you the most common interview questions and how you can get ready to answer them.
The importance of your own closing questions is also covered - did you know you can swing the interview your way with the right closing questions?
After the interview there are also several things to do; don't just walk away and say "thank goodness that's over".

Change Your Job In 24 Hours
Yes It Is Possible
To accomplish all that in just 24 hours would seem like a long stretch for anybody's imagination. Yet if you are feeling bored, frustrated and maybe underpaid in your present job, it would be worth a shot, wouldn't it?
However, I believe that it is possible to change your job in 24 hours. Think of all the things you have to do when you change jobs. Probably travel to a new part of town or unfamiliar location; adopt a new routine for getting to work and work with new people when you get there.
Although your actual job is perhaps similar to the one you left, maybe with a little more money, all the other components will have changed. New journey, new routines, new people.
So if it is too much to leave one job and change to a new job in 24 hours, why not change the job you already have?
If you are feeling bored, frustrated and maybe underpaid in your present job, it would be worth a shot, wouldn't it? After all, you're more likely to move to a similar job than a totally different job, so that being the case, if you change the parts you can change, it will feel like a new job and you CAN accomplish that in 24 hours.
Start by taking a completely different route to work and travel at a different time if possible. Note the new sights and activities as you travel. When you arrive, rearrange your immediate surroundings as much as you can so things look different. The biggest impact you can make concerns the people you work with - you probably won't be able to change them, but you can include some new people.
Go and introduce yourself to staff in other departments; tell them you're looking to improve how you do your job and ask how you can help them. Agree to get involved in some new activities that stretch you and benefit the organization.
This can be the way to change your job in 24 hours; not only that, your new approach will be more fulfilling, will get you noticed and may even lead to more money.

This is a heart-felt email I received from someone who joined before me.
"I joined Reality Networkers during late 2004. I'm a full time student so I can only do this few hours a day. To make things worse, I was a total beginner when it comes to promoting something on the internet. So it took me a really really long time to complete my tasks. Tell you the truth, there are just so many times that I just want to give up.
But I'm very glad that I didn't because now I am making $900 every month without doing anything. It may sound very little money to you, but to me, it's a very nice income. I can't even make this kind of money as a part time waitress every month. So I'm very happy with what I have gotten here.
I'm not an internet guru so I can't tell you how to become super successful here. But I believe the reason I can make it work for me is because I persist. I have referred a couple classmates when I first joined in 2004 but none of them make it because they quit too early. If they had stayed like I have and really try to pull it through, I'm sure they can earn what I'm earning now too.
I'm sorry if I can't be of any help to you because I really don't know the success formula. All I know is I just keep on trying everything for the past year and not give up and all of a sudden everything just start to run very smoothly.
All I wanted to say is, if you have a strategy that works for you, then great. If not, then remember my story and be persistent. Eventually, it'll start to work for you too. This is what I've been telling all my personal referrals and many of them are getting some good rewards too.
So I wish you good luck, and don't hesitate to email me if you ever run into some trouble. I can't guarantee that I can help, but I will always try my best.
To our success,
Sabrina C."
That is a genuine email and hopefully shows that you can create what you want and importantly that you will be helped by others who have worked out how to succeed.
So let me repeat my personal invitation: Come and join me, I will do everything I can to help you all you need to do first is take a look: Click here

Stocks & Shares Online
Most brokers and brokerage houses are now offering online trading to their clients and another benefit of this trading online is that fees and commissions are often lower. However, while online trading is certainly great, there are some drawbacks, especially if you are inexperienced.
When you are new to investing, having the ability to speak in person with a broker can be quite advantageous. If you aren't stock market savvy, online trading may be a dangerous thing for you, as you may easily get carried away. If you are not experienced already, make sure that you learn as much as you can about trading stocks before you start trading online.
You should also be aware that you won't always have the ability to get online to make a trade, so you need to be sure that you can call and speak with a broker if this is the case. This is absolutely true whether you are an advanced trader or a beginner.
Starting out, you should select an online brokerage company that has been around for a while. Obviously you won't find one that has been in business for fifty years, but you can find a company that has been in business for that length of time and now offers online trading.
Again, although online trading is an attractive activity it isn't for everyone.
