Easy Swedish Meatballs

I've always wanted to find a Swedish Meatballs recipe that wasn't too complicated or had too many steps. Every time I had ever seen the recipe there were so many steps to making it I wouldn't even want to try it. I am not one that likes to spend hours in the kitchen and I use my crockpot a lot. Those characteristics would always steer me away from any kind of Swedish meatballs recipe.

But then I happened upon an easy way to make them, and have of course changed a few ingredients to make it my own. Now I have a recipe that is quick and easy to throw together, tastes great with garlic bread & a salad and my family loves it. To me, that's what makes it a family favorite.

Easy Swedish Meatballs Recipe

Frozen Meatballs

So what's the secret with my Swedish meatballs recipe? Using pre-made frozen meatballs. There are many different types, brands and ways to get frozen meatballs. I personally buy mine at a local warehouse store in bulk. I like to use the Italian seasoned frozen meatballs. I think they give an extra flavor to the meal. But what if you only like homemade meatballs? Easy, just make a batch of your favorite homemade meatballs. Cook, bake or fry them like you would normally, then flash freeze them in your freezer.

Flash freezing is very simple. After the meatballs have cooled down, line a cookie sheet with wax paper, lay the meatballs out on the pan, without letting them touch each other. Lay the pan flat in your freezer, and let them freeze for about an hour or two. After that point you can put them into a freezer bag or other container and freeze them. Then when you need frozen meatballs, just take the amount you need out of the bad and use them.
