Crochet Flowers - Easy to make

How to make an easy crochet flower

Have you seen all those cute crochet flowers which are available at the moment?
When I saw them, I thought "how cute" and "maybe I could crochet a flower myself".

I gave it a try and crocheting flowers is very easy :)

I want to see if I can crochet a flower myself

I thought it would be easy - but to be honest I needed several tries to get the idea how I need to crochet a flower. But after finishing the first and second it became really easy.

I did not use a special pattern for this one. I just tried until it looked nice and wrote down the pattern while I did the flower. I have no idea how to write down crochet pattern with the symbols they often use in books - so I'll try to explain for you and I hope the photos will show what I did.

This is a similar yarn to the yarn I used for the white flowers I think. I like to work with such thin yarn and I used a Nr. 2 crochet hook.

    This is my yarn

    What you need to know

You need to know the crochet basics for this little project.
Just the basics: slip stitch, chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double chrochet, triple crochet.

    List of crochet stitches

    Crochet flower - first loop

Make a 6 stitches chain, close it to a ring with a slip stich.

    Crochet flower - First row

Add 1 chain stitch, do 10 single crochet in the loop, close the row with a slip stitch

    Crochet flower - Second row

Add a chain stitch, do 2 single crochet in each stitch of the first row. You will have 20 stitches in this row now. Close the row with a slip stitch.

    Crochet flower - Third row

Add 6 chain stitches, do a slip stitch in the 4th stitch of the 2nd row, add 6 chain stitches... and so on until you have 5 chains (see small image 3 above) which makes the base for the petals. Close the row with a slip stitch.

    Crochet flower - Fourth row

Add 2 chains, do 2 half double crochets, 2 double crochet, 1 triple crochet, 2 double crochet and 2 half double crochets in each of the arcs of the third row. Close the row with a slip stitch

    Finished :)

I hope you were able to follow my description. English is not my native language (I'm sure you noticed that ;) ...) and it's a bit difficult to explain.
But the flower is really easy to make. I'm nearly a beginner, because I did not crochet for a lot of years. So if I can do such flowers - you can do too :)

Maybe you need the description for your first and second flower - but after that you can do it yourself.

Now your little flower is finished. You can use it as a decoration for a hat or scarf maybe. Or you could use it for a scrapbooking project. Just add a button on top of the flower and sew it to your card.

This is a yarn for knitting socks. But I think it also looks nice for colorful flowers :)
