I never knew making wine is easy. Well you make it look so easy but i bet it's harder than it actually looks.
  • micmun Nov 1, 2010 @ 4:07 am | delete
It is as easy as it sounds. It can get a little messy straining the wine ( through fine muslin or something similar ).It can also take quite a long time to clear, but this can be sped up with " finings " if you can't wait for it to clear naturally. Once you've made your first batch of wine it gets easier, because you learn the routine. Give it a go or you'll never know !

A great read, my brother-in-law has just started making his own wine. He collects allsorts of berries and flowers from hedgrows and the like. I'm looking forward to tasting some of his new wines from the recipies you have here, I'm going to send him the link. If you need any free photos of wine please help yourself.

In Missouri several people make blackberry wine at home. I had no idea how complicated it can be.I know the wine is as good as the product youre making it with.

Some great recipes here. I'd love to hear about what some of the taste like - especially the strange ones (potato wine? anything like vodka?)

I've just put on some elderberry wine, and am about to bottle up my (year old) blackberry wine.

I've also got a lens on how to make mead in three weekends - which is my favourite :)

I am interested in the Dandelion Wine, in the early spring we would gather dandelion greens and boil them four different times to get the bitter taste out and then in celebration of Spring we would eat a big bowl of dandelion greens with butter and salt and pepper. Now we can add dandelion wine and have a double celebration of Spring

Nice lens. Should be very useful for beginning wine makers. I am not a wine person myself, but your pictures are lovely, and I appreciate the fact that you have included both USA and metric measurements for your ingredients. Glad to see the angels have blessed you!
