Wonton Soup
Wonton (wantan, wuntun, wanton) is a typical of Chinese dumplings which is commonly served in soup or deep fried and boiled as dim sum snack. Wonton is little bit different from Jiozi (Gyoza, pot stickers, momo, guotio) since wonton wrapper is thinner and least chewier. Common fillings of wonton are pork, chicken, shrimps, scallion, leek and chives, onion and sometimes carrot or other Asian vegetables.
Wonton soup (sup pangsit or pangsit kuah in Indonesian) is the most common soup you can find in North America Chinese restaurants. This soup is very easy to make at home. You have no need special cooking training for it. Just little bit of practice to fold wonton and that's it, you can enjoy a hot brimming hearty oriental syle soup. My wonton soup recipe is using water chestnuts to give some crunchy texture in the filling. Soft, silky wonton wrapper, delicate filling and little bit crunchiness will make this wonton soup unforgettable. More, its free of msg and other unwanted aditives or preservatives.
