Health Effects Of Coffee
Over the past 20 years, over 19,000 studies have been conducted to examine the impact of coffee on one's health. Overall, the results are good news for all coffee lovers who routinely enjoy this traditional breakfast drink.Coffee has made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.
After analyzing data on 126,000 people for as long as 18 years, Harvard researchers have come to a conclusion that having one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. And what's more, having six cups or more each day reduced men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over people who did not drink coffee.
Another great find is that coffee consumption affects also Parkinson's disease. At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that drinking at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones.
There's also evidence that coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost mood, and even prevent cavities.

Coffee Around The World
Finland - The Biggest Coffee Consumer In The World
The Finnish people drink more coffee per capita than anyone else in the world, 11.4 kg/person/year.Most common way of drinking coffee in Finland is percolated coffee from a cup and a saucer or a mug. Some drink it straight black, some have sugar in it and many have it with a bit of cold milk. It is customary to have coffee on offer with cakes when visitors come to your home, and then it is often offered with cream. Everyone mixes their own coffee after it is poured into the cups. The host may say: "Kahvi on kaadettu!" That means that the coffee is poured and the guests are invited to have coffee.
Espresso in Italy
In Italy everyone drinks espresso or caffe corretto as they call it. People go into little corner bars on the way to work in the morning and order one at the counter. They drink the small amount of espresso in one or so gulp and that keeps Italians going until the next espresso! Cappuccino, Caffe Latte and several other coffee varieties are consumed in beautiful 'Caffetteria' coffee shops. At home, most Italians use a "Moka" which is a stovetop brewer of coffee. The consistency is quite different from espresso, and most will add quite a bit of milk to it for their breakfast.
Italian coffee consumption per capita is about half of the Finnish consumption.
Coffee Versus Tea in China
Everyone knows that China is the biggest tea drinking country in the world. But during the last few years coffee has been making its way into the daily life of some Chinese. Coffee is associated with Western lifestyle, and young, affluent, urban consumers, who are more open-minded to Western influences, are starting to enjoy instant coffee. Most of the coffee consumption happens in large cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Coffee or 'Cafezinho' in Brasil
Brazil is the world's biggest producer of coffee beans and the second largest consumer of coffee in the world. That is no wonder since nine out of 10 Brazilians above 15 years of age drink coffee daily. Still the cosumption per capita is only about 4.7 kg/year.Traditionally Brazilians have a cafezinho which is little strong coffee, sweetened with sugar. People drink Cafezinho frequently throughout the day. It's impolite to refuse if you are offered one for example in a business meeting.
'Cuppa' in Australia
Australians drink lots of coffee. The country is so multicultural, that people drink coffee in all of its forms. Still maybe the the norm in the homes is using the plunger to make coffee from readily grounded coffee beans. Also Nescafe has a huge market in Australia. People enjoy its taste and it seems to go well with the easy lifestyle."Why don't ya come for a cuppa?" is something you may hear from a mate. Australia is also a big consumer of ready mixed ice coffees that are being sold in every supermarket and corner shop.
Coffee Changing The Tea-Drinking Culture in Russia
Tea is the most popular drink in Russia, and black tea is a "national" drink that has been consumed for over 300 years. But transformation from a tea drinking culture to a coffee drinking culture is well under way. A younger population, changing lifestyles and new coffee shop chains are getting consumers interested in coffee. Young people are considering tea as a "boring" drink.Only a few years ago, in 2004, the coffee consumed was mainly instant coffee.
Since then the appearance of speciality chained coffee shops, like Coffee House, Shokoladnitsa, McCafé, Starbucks and Costa Coffee, the fresh coffee consumption has become very popular in Moscow and St Petersburg.
