Sounds fantastic - do you have the quantities in ounces or grams? I am in the UK and we don't know what 'Cups' are over here.
  • Jodi_k Mar 11, 2012 @ 11:50 am | delete
One cup is 8 fluid ounces (or 1/2 pint). However, our ounces and pints are different from yours and dry ounces are different from fluid ounces (who invented this screwy system anyway?).

  • favored1 Feb 13, 2012 @ 2:36 pm | delete
I would like to try this especially since I am a big mousse fan. But how is the raw egg safe? Can I make it without it?
  • Jodi_k Feb 13, 2012 @ 3:01 pm | delete
The egg gets cooked when you pour the boiling water over it. If you leave it out, the mousse won't hold together properly.

If you like, you could try the Alton Brown recipe above; he uses gelatin to hold it together (or you could try gelatin, I suppose).

In any case, nobody has ever gotten sick (and I've been making this for a very, very long time!).
  • quester Feb 13, 2012 @ 1:17 pm | delete

What a really simple recipe, I love it would be perfect for making with children. Bung everything in a blender and pour, maybe even daddy could manage that one, lol.
  • Jodi_k Nov 7, 2010 @ 7:20 am | delete
Kids can make it. Daddy can make it. Funny one of the first things I ever "cooked" was chocolate pudding. I was about 2 and my mom sat me on a high stool in front of the stove to stir.
