Superb writing! This article was so entertaining ALL the way through, not to mention, a very common problem in today's world.

Wonderful lens! Great points. English is my second language and it's surprises me to see how many native speakers have poor spelling skills. I can add the word "supposably" to your list, also "I could have went" :-) "It's wrote"... and many more

Thanks so much for your comment! I hope this lens was helpful to you. It surprises me to see how many native speakers have poor spelling skills as well. That's part of the reason I made this lens! :-)

I really enjoyed reading your lens. You have included many of my pet peeves. Another one that baffles me is supposably instead of supposedly. No letter B in the word at all so why do so many people put it in? Another pet peeve of mine are these security words. Oh well, I'll just type in pigahoy as requested and be on my way.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad I'm not the only one with these pet peeves!

Great lens to show that even native English speakers get it wrong sometimes. I get used to hearing errors from my ESL students but cringe when native speakers butcher the language.
  • MichelleDiane May 4, 2011 @ 9:18 pm | delete
Yes, hearing and seeing these kinds of errors from native speakers is a little disheartening. I hope this lens can help at least one person just a little! :-)

    Great lens! 5*****

    Thank you!

Oh, yes! Sticklers unite! And I never could figure out why people can't say spaghetti (pasketti?).
  • MichelleDiane May 4, 2011 @ 9:19 pm | delete
Hahaha! Do some people not grow out of that?! I've never heard an adult say that. Wow.

This is an excellent helpful lens! As a teen myself, I'm surround by friends who cannot use grammar correctly, and it really bugs me.

I have given this lens 5 stars, I've added it to my lens discovery tool and as soon as my lens is out of WIP I will add this to the lensroll :).

    Ben.

Thanks, Ben! It's nice to hear from a teen who is bothered by incorrect grammar. I didn't care about it as much when I was a kid. Keep it up! It comes in handy later, trust me! :-)
  • OhMe Dec 7, 2008 @ 4:20 pm | delete
I am afraid that anything I write will not be correct so I will just say "Great Job" and hope that passes.

Your comment cracked me up! Don't worry, the comments section is off limits to my red pen. ;-) Thanks so much for stopping by!

To someone just learning English, not their native language, I would think 'easy English' is truly an oxymoron. An interesting subject for a lens!

Thanks, Julie! I appreciate your stopping by and commenting! :-)

"Myself vs. me" is one of my pet peeves. And "irregardless." Ugh! But my all-time, nails-on-the-chalkboard peeve is when people say "persons" for "people."

When did "people" become wrong? Why do people in academia insist on saying it? And now it's spread to business executives and news anchors. We're doomed.

Oh, my bad. Why do "persons" in academia insist..... (heh heh...)

Great lens! I gave you five stars!

Ooh, good one. I may add that to my list. Thanks for stopping by, and for the rating! :-)
