Ghost Bushes

Since Halloween is all about scary, eerie, and fun decorations my first craft recommendation are ghost bushes.

If you have bushes in front of your house, this decoration might just make you the talk of the neighborhood. First, take a plain white sheet. The size will depend on the size of your bushes. Fold the sheet in half and place newspaper inside the fold. Use either a black permanent magic marker or black fabric paint to make a ghost face on the front of your sheet. When it's dry, take and place it around your bush and secure it in the back tightly with clothespins.

Halloween 2008

This year Halloween is on a Friday. Easy Halloween Crafts is a great guide to plan a fun-filled weekend. With over 70 pages of craft ideas, you'll be able to conjure up some good 'ole Halloween fun!

Ghost or Pumpkin Garland

Another craft idea for Halloween is to make a garland of pumpkins or ghosts to drape around your home. All you need is some orange construction paper (for pumpkins) or white construction paper (for ghosts) and green string (for pumpkins) or black string (for ghosts).

Take a pencil and free-hand draw a ghost or a pumpkin on the paper. When you draw the figure, leave a tab at the top because you will be folding the tab over the string to secure it. Take a black magic marker and draw a scary or funny face on your figure and then cut it out of the paper. Make several of these so that you can make your garland long. Fold the tab over the string. You can then secure the figures with tape, glue, or staples. Hang throughout the house or in a designated "haunted" room.

Paper Bag Luminaries

Light the way for your Halloween victims (I mean guests) with paper bag luminaries. This simple design can make the outside of your house look very scary and festive. All you need for this craft are some brown lunch bags, orange craft paint, scissors, sand and some tea light candles.

First paint the brown lunch bags orange. Once dry, use scissors or an X-acto knife to cut out a scary pumpkin face. Fill the bottom of the bags with about ½" of sand and submerge a tea light candle or votive candle in the bottom. Line your walkway with these luminaries on trick or treat night and you'll surely set a spooky mood.
