Easy Website Traffic: How To Outrank Your Competitors And Make Money

This down and dirty guide will give you a road map for getting traffic to your website. Okay, lets get down to business.

1. Submit you articles with a link back to your site. There's a ton of sites the accept articles and most are garbage. Here's a few that will actually benefit you:

http://ezinearticles.com/add_url.html

2. Issue a news release. Don't think your site is news worthy? Think again. I mean seriously, have you watched the news lately? I live in Minneapolis which is not exactly a small town short on news, and the newscasts are filled with fluff stories about ice fishing, and Reality TV updates. Unless your site just sucks it's worthy of a press release. You might not get booked on the Today Show, but you'll get a primo back link, and some traffic.

Press release sites fall into 2 categories. Sites that care, and sites that don't care. The sites the care like http://www.prnewswire.com won't post your release unless it sounds newsy. I don't think "newsy" even a word, but let's just say sites like PR News have standards, but as long as you word your release so it sounds like news and not self promotion they should run it.

The other type of PR site, sites that don't care will accept just about anything. They monetize your content with Adsense so the more the merrier as far as these sites are concerned. http://www.free-press-release.com/ is one example of a site that will publish just about anything

3. Build a Squidoo lense around your main keyword. Does this work? You're reading my lense aren't you? Be sure to publish your RSS feeds using the RSS module.

4. Start a blog. http://wordpress.com/signup and http://www.blogger.com/start can have you up and running in minutes. Even if you have a blog on your main site I would still create some other blogs with these free services to build back links. Keep in mind that if you use these services for spam you will get shut down. You don't have to spend hours writing blog posts, but don't publish junk either.

For content ideas, go to http://technorati.com/ search for blogs in your niche and write about one of there posts. Its okay to copy and paste a quote, just don't steal the entire post and republish it on your blog, and always link back to the person you're quoting. Bloggers are a fickle bunch, and if you don't follow the strict blogoshpere protocol they'll descend upon you like a pack of jackals.

You can do the same thing with forums in your niche. Go here to search for forums http://rankings.big-boards.com

Of course you should blog about all your sites. Every time you add a page of content make a quick post with a link to it.

5. Add you site to directories. It would take me all day to list them here, fortunately someone has already taken the time to do it and sort them by page rank here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=199497&highlight=free+directory

6. Find forums in your niche and post links to your site. I you're not careful the enemies of capitalism will make your life a living hell if they think you're using their forum to promote your site. Which of course you are, but that's beside the point. If the forum allows signatures you're golden.

If you want to post a link the body of your post tread lightly. A good trick is to find someone asking a question that your site solves and post 3 or 4 links to similar sites along with yours to throw the hounds off you trail.

I not saying you should spam, but if your website is offering a solution to that person's problem you're doing them a favor by giving them a link. Sadly, a few pathetic losers who spend more time policing the internet then they do raising their own children will stop at nothing to keep this from happening.

If you run into one of these self righteous dip sticks DO NOT ENGAGE THEM! These people are short on intelligence and long on time. You could undoubtedly own them in an online debate, but much like a dumb dog who keeps coming back for more after you kick him they will not go away.

If you find yourself confronted by one these internet hall monitors just move along. You can always sign up under a new screen name later and resume your promotion.

in reply to j77mikesta Usually you do not have to submit your website to Google and it can be negative to do so. let the search engine spiders find you naturally through targeted keywords, maybe using a blog and pinging your posts, social bookmarking your website and building links with articles or something. It will help a lot when you want to get your site indexed... Then you will need to add more backlinks for a while to get good rankings, unless there is little competition for your keywords.

ya nice info but I have a question, how did you get your lense on google, did you just add content and it happened or did you submit it yourself to google.
