A Book Review for Eat Cake by Jeanne Ray
A entertaining novel addressing parenting of both teenagers and aging parents at the same time and under the same roof.
Two Teenagers, Two Aging Parents, and a Husband Who Just Lost His Job
How will Ruth handle the stress?
Ruth learned in a stress seminar to imagine herself in a relaxing place. Unlike most who picture themselves on a beach, Ruth sees herself inside a cake. She's been baking cakes since she was 8. It's her way of dealing with stress. Unfortunately, her family doesn't appreciate her cakes. After all, she bakes them almost everyday.
To add to her already stressful life of raising two teenagers, she finds out she is going to have to take care of her father who just got injured in an accident. But that's not the worst part, her mom, divorced from her dad since she was two already lives with her and now she'll be in the middle of the squabbling parents.
Then, her husband loses his job.
Will the family pull together and make it? Will cake be part of the solution?
Read this humorous look at a common situation many of us are living in our daily lives.

My Opinion of the Book
I enjoyed this book because I can relate to it on a few levels. I also have two teenagers at home. I don't have aging parents, but I have a home based business.
I like the way the family works together to start the home based business. It may or may not be realistic, but it had elements of truth on how to market your home based business.
I haven't read a novel in years, but stumbled upon this while on vacation in Florida. It only took me a few days to read and I enjoyed the happy ending.
I look forward to reading the other books by Jeanne Ray.

- Thanks Carla, I'll see if I can get a copy for when I go on vacation. One teenager is all I can handle! LOL Actually he's a great kid but he is a teenager afterall. I actually took the buyout from my F/T job in 1999 because I could see the writing on the wall as far as trying to juggle aging parents, young son, F/T job and a network marketing business.
