Spring is full of life, and with it the easter egg hunt! Easter is when spring starts to make it's presence felt. Easter is when life starts to stir, from a wicked cruel, brutal winter. Easter holidays are when plans are being made about what families are going to do in the summer. People are starting to plan their gardens. Evenings of sports practice for the kids. Life resurrects from the dreary lifeless hades of winter.

Many times for us, the easter egg hunt was the start of another season of camping and good old fashion fun. My parents would pack up the tent and load our station wagon full of eggs that we children had coloured and other provisions, and off we would go to where ever. It always depended where my father knew there was good fishing.

Our parents would hide the eggs, small toys, and chocolates in and around the campsite. In the morning when we were given the go ahead we would start our Easter Egg hunt. Our parents would sit on their chairs and tell us when were hot or cold. It was a lot of fun for us children, and I think our parents enjoyed it to.

Another twist to Your Easter Egg Hunt

Give them Clues where to find the Basket of Suprises

Each child will get a different colored set of plastic eggs that you will hide clues to where they will find the next clue to the next egg with the next clue. Do not have too many eggs with clues in them, or you will have a bunch of unhappy kids. I find that anywhere from five to seven eggs is good enough. The winner of the contest will get an egg of their choice from the losers.

Why Not an Easter Egg Relay.

This is great to burn off all the sugar from the Chocolates

Break the Children up into even teams. Give the children each a tablespoon or soup spoon and give each team a hard boiled egg. Pick a spot where they will turn around and bring the egg back to give to the next person. They will have to transfer the egg from spoon to spoon - NO HANDS! And the next person will have to run with the egg in their spoon to the spot and turn around, etc. You will need a big basket of eggs to give to the winning teams, as the the game progresses.

It isn't as hard as it looks!

All you really need is a double boiler, a good candy thermometer and of course some good chocolate recipes and voila some great chocolates. The kids would be more than willing to help you!
