Can you Beat the Convenience of Amazon?

eBay vs. Amazon

Both companies are huge. Both companies have their specialties and finer points. While eBay might be a great place to pick up a deal, Amazon might be just the right place to get a no-hassle item quick.

Don't forget about the sellers! Sellers are disappointed with recent eBay changes and may prefer Amazon, but don't discount eBay, they've been around and still generate huge traffic.

If we were going to choose just one to live with for the rest of our lives, we'd pick Amazon. Why? It's easy to shop there, the items are always represented correctly, checkout is a snap, and you don't have to deal with sellers that might be out to scam you if buy directly from Amazon (don't get us wrong, Amazon might have some scammers, too). The Affiliates program is a favorite for some Squidoo users here, too.

YOUR TURN!

eBay or Amazon? They both have their pros or cons, but if you could only choose one, who is best? Is it eBay's eclectic range of weird, unique deals, or Amazon's shiny, new selection of items and easy shopping experience?

Amazon. I've never had an unpleasant Amazon transaction! The items are still a good deal, and eBay has a long way to go to ensure a perfect transaction.

No way, Monkeybrain! eBay is much better.

John says:

I think EBAY is better. You can get things for much cheaper. Alot of the things I see on Amazon are way overpriced.

TheOne says:

Ebay wins, Amazon just doesn't have the trust I've had for ebay for so many years of great service whereas amazon has given me rather bad experiences with poor customer support.

maybe in a few years amazon will be close to ebay.

...eBay attracts 902 million annually according to compete.com! Imagine having that much traffic on your website? By comparison, Amazon attracts 615 million visitors at this point.

Businesses Intertwined

PayPal is owned by eBay and heavily pushed by eBay for sellers and buyers to use. On eBay Australia in April 2008, it was announced that sellers would only be allowed to use PayPal or c.o.d. as payment methods. This largely disputed move is a test, and will be used globally soon if all goes well.
