Once a week until eBay Live, we will be posting hot tips on going to Live including hotel deals, must attend classes, and insider info.  Even if you aren't attending this year, I guarantee some great information for your business will be in these announcements.  Look for 'Janelle's Secret Cool Tip' for some good insider info!!

Also, feel free to post your hot tips, suggestions, and stories in the comments section under these posts - we LOVE to hear from you!

Getting Started

eBay Live is the annual 3-day event where thousands of eBay Community members, industry experts, and exhibitors get together to share the secrets of success, network, make new friends, and celebrate everything eBay. Attendees learn how to take their eBay experience to a higher level all day, then party into the night with world-class entertainment. This year, the event takes place in Boston from June 14-16.  Highlights of this year's conference include:

- eBay President and CEO Meg Whitman discussing the future of eBay (don't miss the Keynote this year - all I can say is that it will be very 'entertaining' to say the least).

- Special Guest Speakers: Andy Sernovitz, Seth Godin (woohoo!), Suze Orman and John Gardner

- Headliner Entertainment Kool & the Gang at the Big Gala

  1. Register to go to eBay Live - That's easy, but do it sooner than later.  Even though it's a great deal ($75 for a fun & wealth filled 3 days), the prices do go up the closer we get to June 14.  Plus, last year they closed register since the event SOLD OUT early.
  2. Book your trip.
  3. Hotels - I just got notification from Hotwire that certain hotels in the Boston area just lowered their prices!!  If you haven't used Hotwire before, it's super easy.  Put the city, date & how many people into the fields and hit "Find a Hotel'.  It gives you different areas of the city designated by a letter.

You can narrow your search by choosing just certain letters.  eBay Live will be closest to 'F', but B,D, and E are just minutes away.

When you choose a hotel, you aren't given the name of the hotel, just the details and amenities.  You won't be given the name of the hotel until you finalize and pay for your stay.

Hotel

Janelle's Secret Cool Tip

I use Hotwire ALL the time for traveling (except for flights), and especially love the hotel and car super-duper deals.  But not knowing where I am staying when I choose a hotel deal drives me a bit crazy.  So I go to Hotwire first, find the deal I think I want…THEN, I go to this site Better Bidding to figure out what hotel they might be referring to.  It's not always 100% accurate, but at least I can use my P.I. skills to narrow things down!  I just scored an insane deal to a 4-star hotel in New Orleans for my trip in May and will be staying at a beautiful & historical hotel that normally is over $300 a night for $129!

Flights -

Boston's Logan airports code is BOS

I love using Travelocity to find the best deal for travel.  They allow you to search within a 3 day period (coming & going) for the best deal.

Also, since we have people coming in from all over the world, these might help some of you:

UK

Australia

Germany

Canada

Amtrak has some great deals - just plan plenty of extra time if you are traveling across the US.  I love the train - it's so beautiful and you get to meet very interesting people!

For those of you who are thinking positive, wealth & success, then you will want to check out Elite Jets!

And you can always road trip it (promise me you'll share your travel stories!!)

Car Rentals -

Now you can use Hotwire for your car rental deals too (I can't believe how cheap I can rent cars for from Hotwire)…and with the cars you know ahead of time who you are renting from…but, next week we will be talking about Getting Around and you may not need a rental car.

Also, for my friends at the DOUA, I definitely didn't forget you.  I searched around and found this great resource site for traveling if you are disabled: http://www.makoa.org/travel.htm

Also, there is a wonderful woman writer, Jane Danielson, who is disabled, travels and loves to share with others the tricks she has learned.  Go to:

http://www.handicappedtravelclub.com/travel_writer_for_the_disabled.htm - and request the 'Boston at it's Best' article.  Jane has a beautiful website herself at: http://www.disabled-traveler.com/
Plus, eBay is making scooters available for you to rent during the event:

Belmont Medical Supply Co.
185 Belmont St.
Belmont, MA 02478
Phone: (617) 484-3888
www.belmontmedical.com

*Note: eBay is not responsible for payment or storage of these scooters. Attendees will need to keep the scooters in their possession at all times. Overnight storage is not available at the Convention Center.
