How To Promote Your Ebay Store With Squidoo

I have tried to make money using Ebay stores on a number of occasions but have always given up because I found it difficult to actually get traffic to the store. Most sales that I made came from auctions or buy-it-now items. The problem with ebay stores is that it is rare that any of your store items end up in the search results, and most people who use ebay find what they are looking for via Ebay's internal search engine.

I had just made my third attempt at making money with an Ebay store, and was analysing where traffic was coming from. It wasn't long before I saw  that I was getting traffic directly from Google. This is the exciting thing, although your items may not turn up in the ebay search results, it is quite possible to get them turning up in Google search results!

This got me thinking. I have been using Squidoo a while and have seen how effective it is in driving traffic to my websites. Best of all Google loves Squidoo and is quick to index new lenses. Many lenses are now turning up in top postion on Google's searches. So I thought, what would happen if I started to use it as a vehicle to drive traffic to my Ebay store? Squidoo is an ideal medium for doing this as it as it allows you to build niche mini sites for nothing and in very little time! Most Ebay stores are niche stores, and most ebay store owners are experts in the products that they sell. So I think that you can see that the potential of dove-tailing Squidoo lens and Ebay store together is great.

So this is what this lens is about. How to use Squidoo to drive traffic to your ebay store via Google.

Own Your eBay Traffic

Keywords - Choose Your Squidoo Lens And Url Carefully

As with all SEO techniques the first place to start when creating your new lens is to do your keyword search first. You can either use one of the free keyword tools such as Google's keyword Tool or better still use a keyword tool like Ad Word Analyzer which allows you to analyse your keywords in much more detail.

Make sure that you use the keyword or phrase that you select in your title and in your url. For example, this lens is about Ebay stores, I know that this keyword is searched for a enough times to make building a lens worth while. So I have made sure that I have used the phrase 'ebay store' in the title of this lens, and also in its url, the url being www.squidoo.com/ebay_stores. This makes my lens very search engine friendly. If you try to get a url using your keyword and find that it is being used by someone else, don't panic, just put a number after it. For instance, if you want to build a lens on Ebay stores your would find that the url with the ebay_store ending is taken, but if you were to use the ending ebay_store_1, or any other number you should choose, you should be able to get the url with the keyword that you want. Don't worry, Google will not penalise you for the number.

There are 2 ways that you can use Squidoo to promote your Ebay store. Firstly build a lens that is based on your products in general, so if your store is selling craft supplies, build a lens all about crafts. Secondly build lenses around each specific product or category of product in your range, so build a lens about knitting,or pottery or perhaps about diferent kinds of wool or clay. Give real content, and show that you are an expert. This will make leading someone to buy something from your ebay store much easier.

Get 75% Off You Final Value Fees!

One of the problems with Ebay Stores is that although listing your products is cheap, the final values fees are more expensive than if someone bought your product through an auction or as a buy-it-now item. A way round this is to make sure that you make use of Ebay's store referral credit scheme.

Ebay will give you 75% off of your final value fees if your customers buy from your store having arrived at it via a special url. All you have to do is add ?refid=store to the end of your url. So My stores url would be http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Kaazooms-Deals?refid=store, if you were to go to my store and buy something, I would get 75% off the final fees!

You should use this technique every time you send some one to your store via Squidoo. You can use it with specific catagories or products within your Ebay store. Just add ?refid=store to the end of your store's url!

Squidoo does allow you to use live links using the tags. For a full list of html tags that you can use on Squidoo click here

Attention! This Technique Only Works On Ebay.Com!

I have just found out that Ebay only allows Ebay.com customers to use this technique! It seems that these rules do not apply to members in the UK and the rest of the world. Another example of Ebay's extremely unfair policies towards its non USA customers.

Add Your Ebay Store Items Via RSS !

The people at Squidoo are so helpful! You can even add your stores RSS feeds to your lens for even more exposure!

An Illustation Of How To Use Squidoo To Drive Traffic To a Specific Store Item

Take a look at this lens to see how I have taken a specific item and made a lens around it using various Squidoo modules. The idea is to presell the customer before they visit my Ebay store, when they find my lens via a Google search.

Auction Site Like Ebay

I love Ebay, and have been a keen Ebayer for many years. But I see no reason to stick with only one auction site. Compitition is good. It sharpens business's focus and helps to drive down prices. So I have written the following lens about a free auction site that I think could give Ebay the competition that it needs.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out how to get store listings to show up, not just auctions, and your RSS feed info did the trick.

The Reason I Make & Sell Only Soy Wax Candles

I had been making candles for a few years when I discovered just how Unhealthy Petroleum-based Paraffin wax really is for you. I decided to re-direct my business with a more Natural, Eco friendly approach.

All of my candles are made from 100% Soy Wax. Pillars have a hint of Beeswax which adds warmth & suppleness. It gives sturdiness to prevent them from "ballooning." I use only cotton wicks. No lead in core.

Benefits of Soy:

Doesn't emit harmful vapors or toxins into the air

95 % less soot

Better for people with slight breathing problems

Spills clean-up with warm soapy water

Made from Domestically grown crops supporting American Farmers

Have a Peaceful Day
