Our favorite place is the Goodwill Stores. The one we go to has very good books and we have even found one or two with the author's signature in them

Don't be afraid to bargain or make offers. People have garage sales to get rid of their stuff. Make reasonable offers and be fair.

Use the "cash in hand" technique. If you find something for $20, and think it is overpriced, you can approach the seller with $10 in your hand and say, "Hi, I am interested in that item over there. I only have $10 left, would you take that?" Seeing the cash, the seller usually takes it. The idea is to be reasonable. This technique usually works best later in the day when sellers are ready to close down their sales.

Plan ahead. Read local print newspapers and online editions, and Craig's List for garage sale announcements. Start your search early in the week because garage sales usually begin on Fridays and last through the weekend. You can find a lot of items quickly if you go to specific neighborhood sales instead of going to sales all across town.

I'm glad this information has helped you! I'm currently working on more Ebay information to share. Handmade products are a great fit for Ebay. Very niche, and you can build a good following. Good luck!

Terrific information in this lens. I sold 2 items through Ebay through a local Ebay store two years ago when I moved because at the time I did not have easy computer access or a digital camera. Now that I have both, I've been thinking of trying Ebay myself, plus I have my own, new, products that I currently sell at local craft fairs and on Etsy that I could feature now and then. So I appreciate finding this information as I need to learn much more before I begin. 5* & faved so I can follow links and read more on this subject. I'm new to Squidoo and it's fantastic all the information available here from lensmasters knowledgeable in an area you're interested in. Thanks.

Practice makes perfect, that expression describes exactly how one learns to find great deals for resale, including on eBay. I have developed a 'sense' that helps me decide whether to pick something up or not. I still make mistakes but I am accurate more often. I have learned lots of tricks including some of those you discuss in this great lens.

Great lens. I have been put off wholesalers before, since they sell to you at $5 telling you that you could sell the item for $20, yet there are 100 ads on eBay selling the same item for $5.25. Need to find your niche marketplace and something unique to sell.
