I have never eaten them, nor have I made them, but if I see a pan, I will certainly get it! Looks like fun - a cross between a grilled cheese sandwich and a cupcake... You have made them look very appealing.

Many years ago as a teenager, our Lutheran church hosted an annual Aebelskiver breakfast. It was so much fun cooking and serving breakfast for everyone. We never had them in our home, so this was a treat for me. Later, I married a Scandanavian man, and boy, did we have aebelskivers! The pan was amongst the first of cooking ware that I bought newly married. Now, it's been years since making or even tasting those long-forgotten treats. I don't even have any recipes. I found a Nordic aebelskiver pan in perfect new condition at a thrift store this morning and am so eager to make them once again.

Never heard of ebelskivers but they sure sound good! They look similar to Dutch Poffertjes. Pronounced something like "pufferedges." They have a creamy filling and are dusted with powdered sugar. Yum! They serve them at the county fair and at street fairs here.
  • Infonitum Feb 15, 2010 @ 9:13 am | delete
I was looking for breakfast ideas and came across this. WOW! Very cool, not to mention that they look delicious!!!

I am Danish, and I have made lots of æbleskiver as we call them in Denmark. I have never had them for breakfast though. The Danish tradition with æbleskiver used to be related with the Christmas month, where you would serve æbleskiver and Glogg (hot red wine mixed with snaps, raisins and almonds) in the afternoon. However I have been away from Denmark for 10 years now, so maybe traditions have changed or æbleskiver have become a new breakfast trend. It is a delicious squidoo! And guess who is going straight out in the kitchen to look for her old æbleskiver pan?
  • OhMe Feb 8, 2010 @ 7:36 pm | delete
Oh me! My mouth is watering. When I first read about the Chocolate Filled Ebelskivers, I thought that was the one for me. Then I saw the Apple Cinnamon Ebelskivers and that did it. I thought that would be my favorite. Well, then the Cheese filled Ebelskivers came along and I then knew that was my favorite. I had not ever heard of these so was surprised to see that there was even Ebelskiver Pans. Where have I been? This is a super lens. Blessed!
  • JenOfChicago Jan 19, 2010 @ 5:41 pm | delete
