Q&A

Common eBid Questions

what is the best ebay alternativeCan I Import my eBay feedback on eBid ?
Yes, you can have eBid import you eBay feedback through the Repatoo.com site.

Can Sellers Import items from other sites ?
Yes, Seller+ members can use the Ninja Lister program to bulk import items from other marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, Abebooks, Etsy etc.

As a Seller do I need to use PayPal ?
No, you are free to use any trusted payment provider, For example you could use Google Checkout or even eBids own PPPay.

However due to PayPal being so popular with Buyers, it makes good sense to accept it as a means of payment on eBid.

As a Buyer what can eBid offer me that eBay can't ?
First you earn free points for every item you buy or sell, you can use these points to bid on "buddy point" auctions which include items such as Games consoles, Phones, Laptops, Microwaves, TV's, Cameras, Printers, Clothing etc.

But the best thing is, You get more choice at lower cost as eBid sellers can list there whole stock without fear of listing or re-listing fees, final value fees or store fees . So it's win win.

I've never heard of eBid, can it be trusted ?
eBid is a well established auction site, It has been growing strong for over 7 years and has won several awards! and lets not forget that over 1.2 million users are already registered and using eBid today.

FACT! Google are so confident about eBid's success that they have selected eBid as it's official product search partner.

I have been selling on eBid for over a year with no problems. They have twice removed negatives, once from a non paying buyer, once from a buyer who wanted a refund without sending the goods back. I too used to be an eBay powerseller, but relisting fees (free on eBid), store fees (free on eBid) and all the other charges and restrictions were making it impossible. I now sell regularly, though not at the old eBay rate and am uch happier. eBid is getting stronger all the time, if you are considering making the move, then go for it, you will not regret it, and the more people who move, the sooner eBid will afford the same selling opportunites that eBay does.

E-bay is just much too harsh on its good sellers, it’s so evident that it seems like the Mr. Donohue is driving it into the ground on propose. Sellers being not allowed to leave negative feedback, hash rating systems, malicious fees for charging shipping and now holding sellers money up to 21 days after auctions end.

    I just don’t get it?

Absolutely agree. I have had an account with ebay since 1998, and a seller feedback rating of 99.1. I went into my Paypal account and saw several holds on payments. Totally not understanding, I called customer support which told me that they have a new policy and after review of recent activity they decided to put a hold on my account. I have no disputes or problems with merchandise, just a few customers who commented that they received late shipments. When I list on ebay I indicate that I will ship within five business days, and often I have emails from customers asking where items are even prior to the shipping timeframe I entered when listing. I am totally frustrated with the process -- after being a member for 14 years, I received no prior notification from ebay or chance to respond. I am now in the process of finding another more equitable auction site on which to do business. I understand protecting customers, as I both buy & sell on ebay, but this is ridiculous and completely unfair to sellers who are at the mercy of sometimes unrealistic expectations and have no recourse. And customer service just reads from a script - no help. Just saying.

Very satisfied with eBid. Not quite as easy to use as a seller as eBay, but close enough after you familiarize yourself. I am eBay Top Rated Power Seller Bronze. I like the perceived attitude at eBid better. I can sell at lower prices on eBid because that 15% to 20% that realistically goes to eBay now comes off the selling price. (OK. I put some of it in my pocket; but the point is that I have the choice.) Suggestion to eBid - advertise. Get your name out there. Use social media to do it on the cheap. Buddy points??? How about Airline Partner points instead?

It’s always good to have an alternative (eBay a monopoly currently), Ebid is the underdog currently and people must/should support it for that reason alone, as a result we will have lower fees from both Ebid & eBay and over all a better experience for all buyers and sellers..

Great information about eBid. I sell on eBid and it is growing everyday. When I left eBay it has gotten so bad I was actually loosing money each month. Being in the Jewelry Niche I could not compete with over seas manufactures loading the auctions with $.99 auctions and they were selling them way below my cost.
    Good Lens.

I just saw my final value fees from the last batch of auctions on eBay. I paid almost double what I did a month ago with the new final value fee including shipping. Most of the auctions were for items under $10 so when you add shipping of $5 plus the PayPal fee total charges are about 15-20% of the final bid. I am definitely going to give ebid a shot. I have been an eBay user since 1998 (eBay ID mikes-closet) and it is sad that i feel I have to look somewhere else, but eBid sounds promising. Check out my lens to see how to earn a little money online.

Another good point about eBid that has not been mentioned is free relisting. I have over 1200 listings and was paying eBay even when things did not sell. Not any more, on eBid you only pay if the item sells, no up front fees, no relisting fees. Sales are slower than eBay, but the site seems to be growing on an almost daily basis. Another thing is that with the lower fees, I have reduced all prices by 5% from what I charged on eBay. A definite win/win.

My reservations for ebid is that there is no real "free trial" to see if you can be successful with "buy it now" listings. With the lifetime membership it looks like an upfront money grab IMO. And some sellers have have to photocopy their driver's license or passport to prove their identity. It's a big turnoff!
eCrater.com and Bonanza.com are pretty good. eCrater is free and I get sales every month through them with ZERO fees!.. except from PayPal :(.
Bonanza is a slow seller for me. The fees are awesome for higher priced sales, but the lowest fee starts out at .50 cents which leads to low end sales being more expensive than eBay fees.
Unfortunately eBay still has the traffic unlike any other site.

I have been kicked off eBay because of 2 many neutral feedbacks, because buyers don't read on eBay, they just buy and then leave neg feedback or extort the sellers for refunds and leave neg. with no reason. They do not understand the DSR system and think 3 is normal and then eBay kicks you off because your are considered normal. Ebid is now my home and it is a marvelous place growing faster as eBay kick more sellers off for being normal.

WHAT A RIP .AD COST 25 CENTS, THEN IT SOLD ,EBAY CHARGED ME 70 CENTS FOR THE SALE, THEN I GOT PAID BY BUYER , THEN PAY PAL CHARGED ME FOR THEIR PAYMENT....THE ITEM SOLD FOR 99 CENTS..........DONT BE FOOLED BY EBAY START 99 CENT AUCTION YOU THE SELLER LOSES. EBID IS A BETTER DEAL FOR SELLER AND FOR BUYER.

I HAVE BEEN PAYING 400.00 PER MONTH TO SELL ON EBAY...RIP OFF! YOU PAY TO LIST, PAY WHEN IT SELLS TOO, PAY PAYPAL TO GET YOUR MONEY...COST WAY TOO MUCH. I GOT ON EBID BUT SHOULD HAVE SIGNED UP FOR LIFETIME PLAN RIGHT OFF. ITS CHEAPER. IT IS EASIER TO LIST AN ITEM FOR SALE, I DONT GET LOTS OF STUPID OR HARRASSING QUESTIONS FROM HARRASSING NON BUYERS ON EBID. I THINK EBID ATTRACTS MORE REAL BUYERS INSTEAD OF FREAKS. RUNNER UP TO EBAY. DONT KNOW WHY? EBID IS ALOT BETTER THAN EBAY BY FAR.

Here are 2 great eBay buying resources that only the best insiders know about. They help you hunt down the very best bargains on eBay.
eBay auctions ending soon with no bids
    and
Last minute eBay auctions. Auctions ending in less than 1 hr. for less than $1.00!

Yes, eBay can be a pain sometimes, but they are still the largest marketplace out there. As such it is still one of the best places for buyers to find those really good deals.

I look forward to adding my art, more antiques, and even furniture with pickup, in the near future. Recommend this site (Oh, yes I had sold over 450 items on e-Bay over the years, but look forward to branching out and having fun.
