Eclectic Flash is a nonprofit online literary journal dedicated to bringing our readers the best flash literature available on the internet, regardless of style or genre. Poetry, prose, fiction, nonfiction, short script, essay, experimental, literary, horror, science fiction, contemporary, postmodern--it doesn't matter. If it's fewer than 1,000 words, you can find it here.

We also offer all authors we publish a spot on our authors page, with 100-word bio and a link to the author's personal web site if he or she has one. For authors whose work we publish regularly--10 or more pieces--we offer individual author pages, each complete with large photo, unlimited-word bio, links to all of the author's works published by Eclectic Flash, and a link to the author's personal web site.

Authors, we plan to release the first issue of Eclectic Flash in January 2010, so submit your best work now. Regardless of style or genre, if it's 1,000 words or fewer and well polished, we want it. Currently, we are not a paying market, but we hope to change that within the next year.

Readers, Eclectic Flash is free, so wait with bated breath and follow us on Facebook for the lead up to the release of our first issue.

Submissions Page

http://www.eclecticflash.com/submit.html

We accept submissions year round. Poetry, prose, fiction, nonfiction, short script, essay, experimental, literary, horror, science fiction, contemporary, postmodern, and anything else you can think of-it doesn't matter. Regardless of style or genre, if it 1,000 words or fewer and well polished, submit it. We prefer previously unpublished material, but will still consider works that have been published previously.

We will never change or rewrite any part of your work for content, but we do reserve the right to make minor corrections to spelling, punctuation, and grammar. However, we don't like to do even this, so make sure the work you send is well polished and free of typos.

You may send one piece of up to 1,000 words per submission. For shorter submissions, such as poetry, you may include 3 to 5 pieces within each submission as long as the total word count is fewer than 1,000 words. However, we do accept multiple submissions. We also accept simultaneous submissions as long as you are sure to notify us if your piece is accepted elsewhere before we reply to the submission.

Please submit your piece, saved in .doc or .rtf format, as an email attachment. The file name of the document should be your piece's title or a shortened version of the title. Example: growingup.doc. In the subject line of the email, include your first initial and last name, style and/or genre, and the word "submission." Example: b smith literary fiction submission. In the body of your email, include your name as you would like it to appear, a 100-word bio or byline written in third person, the title(s) of your submission(s), word count, and anything else you would like to tell us.

By submitting your work to Eclectic Flash you are agreeing to allow us to publish your work electronically/digitally in the issue upcoming at the time of submission. You are also agreeing to allow Eclectic Flash to keep a copy of your work in our site archives. Authors retain all other rights to their work. If Eclectic Flash selects your piece for any future print publications, such as a Best-of- or Year's-Best-style anthology, contracts will be negotiated on a piece-by-piece basis.

Donations Page

http://www.eclecticflash.com/donations.html

Eclectic Flash will always remain a free e-publication for our readers, which is why we rely on your generosity. If you enjoyed even one story today, consider donating-as little as $1.00 helps defer the costs of running a website. If you know one of our authors personally, consider donating more. We would like to have the funding to become a paying market within the next year. All donations are tax deductible, and receipts will be generated via PayPal. What better way to get a tax break than by supporting the arts and possibly helping to feed a starving artist.
