Eco Green Fashion Chic articles is very good tips about fashion design.

I like the feel of used clothing. You can tell what you are actually getting - size-wise, wrinkle-wise, and ease of cleaning. I can't count the number of times in years past that I bought an expensive dress or pair of pants and have them stretch out some place or wrinkle so they were impossible to wear without looking like I slept in them. Often there are clothing swamps around where I live and I visit the 2nd hand stores and yard sales for great buys. Excellent lens! Bear hugs, Frankster

I constantly research sources for plus-size, stylish eco-friendly clothing, a very difficult commodity to find, but I haven't given up. I'm toying with the idea of designing my own clothing!
  • Ayluna Apr 3, 2012 @ 7:02 am | delete
To some degree yes. If I find clothes with the label "eco, organic, ..." I buy them instead of the usual ones. But sadly there are not just enough products in the stores. But it gets better from year to year. I remember only 3 years ago when I was buying clothes for newborn and aksing if they have some from organic cotton they said "no, no, what are you talking about?" (with few exception). But today clothes from organic cottons are getting more coomon, so in few years I guess I wiil be albe to buy everything I want from local stores. :-)

  • prosperity66 Jan 12, 2011 @ 1:30 pm | delete
While I mostly wear cotton clothes I don't think I'm an eco green fashionista mostly because I'm not sure that "eco green" clothes are really green when cotton plantations are located near non eco plantations, for example.
But the lens is stunning and really interesting!

I want to explore bamboo clothing; so far have mainly done organic and fair-trade cotton as my "eco-style" choices. Lots of recycling, reducing, reusing going on in our house, though. Amazing lens.

Great lens (although I found it far too long to digest properly -- perhaps you should split it up a bit?)

If you don't already, you should feature http://www.greenissexy.org (nothing to do with me, I just like the site!)
  • beachbum_gabby Aug 26, 2009 @ 6:55 am | delete
Hands down on your lens, great topic! I'm an environmentalist too! :)
  • bloomingrose Aug 25, 2009 @ 11:53 am | delete
I shop a lot at thrift stores, which put recycling into action. I have bought recycled cotton, organic cotton and hemp, and enjoyed all of those clothes.

Also, we put up a clothes line, and when we use it we reduce our energy use that is related to our clothing.

And I put those paper bags back in the car for shopping so that I do not add so much to my impact on the earth.

Thanks for all the ideas here! I like the clothing swap idea and the recycling of husbands & boyfriends is cute! Green is my favorite color, too, especially for clothes.

What a fantastic Lens! I wish all of my cloths were green. I have seen so many beautiful things but at the moment cannot afford the prices. I guess I am pretty frugal but I do try to be as Green as possible with other aspects of my life. Lensrolling over to my Green Lens.

I was glad to read somewhere on this page that we shouldn't all THROW OUT what we have in order to buy new green items!!! That's like getting rid of an older car because it isn't quite as efficient as a newer one.

    Nicely done & blessed.

We always try to recycle and save whatever natural resources we can. Green cloths are new to me but very interesting. Thank you for a great lens.

Hemp clothes are very comfortable with the consistency of cotton.
  • Andy Greene Jun 19, 2009 @ 8:05 pm | delete
This is great stuff! What about hemp? You hear about people wanting to go green with hemp, but it seems like a rough fiber. What are the advantages? Am I missing something?

I'm a caterer/event planner ... and when we book a client, we ask them just how "green" they'd like to go. In my personal life, I've instituted as many "green" things as can. This topic is important to me. You've built something wonderful here. Good job!
  • daria369 Feb 18, 2009 @ 4:29 pm | delete
Great information - all of my clothes might not be green, but they are comfy for sure... :)
  • WindyWinters Feb 18, 2009 @ 2:06 pm | delete
Cool Lens! Always looking for new tips. Amazing how much we waste. I'm trying really hard to recycle & learn new ideas for Going Green. It sure is hard. The only new thing I've managed to do is fill two blue boxes up to recycle instead of one; but that's about it. Thanks for sharing! :)

Great ideas! I have some bamboo clothing and a few recycled plastic t-shirts (that feel like cotton), so I'm trying to go more earth friendly with my clothing. These have definitely given me more ideas. Welcome to the Million Ways to Go Green!
