Eco Friendly Green Living Gifts

Eco Friendly Green Living and Healthy Living go hand in hand. We need to be more thoughtful about how we spend our day, how our habits touch the planet, what our actions have in common with the condition of the planet or our own backyard.

We don't need to take the weight of the world onto our shoulders, but, with some education, discussion, alternative living ideas, we are sure to find a few ways we can change the way we do things so we make a positive change toward a better more healthy world for all of us to live in.

Changing The World One Action At A Time

We do need to make smart decisions about our choices that impact the planet

We share the planet with each other as well as wildlife and plant life. Over the planet we can see both positive and negative impact based on actions and decisions we make each day. From the most complex actions (which are generally caused by a lot of people doing one or two not so healthy things) all the way down to one small choice as simple as using paper or plastic (or re-usable) or what brand we buy. Do we know how responsible the companies we are supporting are being? WE do not need to stress about a shopping trip and hope we get every choice right from the start. But we do need to make a decision to spend time on a regular basis investigating our choices.

Making the world a healthier and more eco friendly place to live is easier than it sounds with small steps toward improving the way we live each and every day.

Shopping Bags Gift Shop Collection

Shopping Bags Collection Highlights

You can make a remarkable difference in the world with one small gesture today. Stop using plastic and paper toss away bags. The paper bags will biodegrade, of course, but a tree has been harmed in order to produce it. On the other hand, plastic isn't going to harm a tree in the making but it will harm the planets ability to grow trees when the plastic bag heap is so big she doesn't have any more soil for the roots to hold onto.

So, use reusable bags that are made from sustainable resources and when they do wear out they are biodegradable. Toss them in the washing machine now and then (in between washing you can wipe them with a damp cloth). Mark a couple for meats and do not use them for anything else (just in case there are spills you will never cross contaminate your chicken with your apples -- which could be a bacteria issue that will make your family sick).

What You Will Find In The Bacteria and Germs Guide

Germs and Bacteria Gift Shop Collection Highlights

Possibly the least understood aspect of healthy living is when it comes to germs and bacteria. There seem to be several approaches to the issue and they all seem to have valid points. We are going to address a few of the highlights of each of the approaches briefly...

No Germs Allowed Approach: This approach takes great effort and expense to eliminate every germ in the vicinity.
Let us fend for ourselves Approach: This approach insists that our bodies need germs in order to learn how to defend our selves from disease.
Balanced Approach: Finding a balance between the two might be even more complicated of all.

What approach do you find yourself mostly leaning into?

Of Course We Are All Against Littering...

So what do we do about it?

In our busy lives we can be passive or pro-active about the business of littering. What is your approach to this issue?

When we go through each day if we are prepared we are going to be able to prevent ourselves from adding to the problem. Take some time to think about your activity through each day. Where in your day do your find yourself 'almost' littering. If it is in the car... then provide yourself with an alternative that will prevent littering conveniently. Is it at the office, the bus stop, while leaving the fast mart? Keep track of times when you have to go out of your way to prevent yourself from littering and then go back and find ways to make it easier to accomplish.

Have you tried an eco friendly tip or purchased eco friendly merchandise?

  • Graceonline Apr 9, 2012 @ 10:02 pm | delete
Yes, frequently, to both, and I'm glad to see all these tips here. Actually, you could probably build an entire lens on each one. Important ideas and suggestions, and lots of good links. Thank you for doing this. The little car litter bag is so much nicer than the ugly bag I used to carry in my car (when I had one).
  • ElectricCarBuff Mar 30, 2012 @ 12:10 pm | delete
I am so with you on eco friendly living...and recently I adopted a polar bear for my sister. Great ideas here, I shall pop back when another birthday is due. Thank you

Nice lens. Many great ideas and eco friendly things to do. Every bit does make a difference. Blessed by a Squid Angel.

    nice article ....keep it up

I detest litter and litterers. My home town has many grass verges along all the roads which seem to invite certain people to toss litter out of car windows. You can't drive anywhere without seeing endless plastic drinks bottles and even the occasional half eaten take-away meal. I think it's a sign of the times that, however much some of us care, there are still many people that don't!
  • Northbright Mar 18, 2012 @ 1:52 am | delete
Plenty of eco friendly green living tips and materials. Great lens!

I have recycling at home, but that really doesn't count because our city makes us. I pick up bottles and cans and give them to a friend who recycles. My main contribution is to reduce - I just try not to bring too much stuff in my life.
  • SoyCandleLover-Maker Mar 17, 2012 @ 10:26 pm | delete
Thankfully in my town there are lots of groups that pick up litter on our roadways. However, whenever I talk a walk outside my town, I always bring a bag to pick up litter. Feels good in more ways than one. :)
  • BuddyBink Mar 17, 2012 @ 6:34 pm | delete
Some very excellent information here. As a Boy Scout I did a small campaign against littering and cleaned up a long stretch of roadway in my town. I still have a twinge when I see litter along the roadways. How we treat out planet says alot about the kind of people we are.

This is a really good article! I need to purchase some of the "no littering" signs, as people tend to throw their garbage in my bar ditch. Thanks for all of the info!
