Reusable Bags - A Long Term, Eco-Friendly Solution
Reusable bags provide a solution to the problem that plastic and paper bags create. Instead of being used and thrown away, like plastic bags, reusable bags are used, perhaps washed, and then used again and again. One can completely eliminate their need for paper or plastic bags by investing in a nice set of reusable bags that will last for years.
Reusable Bags are Eco-Friendly!
Plastic and paper bags are taking over the world. Over 1 trillion plastic bags are used every year worldwide. Less than 3% of them are recycled. Billions and billions of plastic bags will sit in our landfills for the next 1,000 years while others make their way to the ocean and kill thousands of animals each year.Plastic and paper bags also pollute during manufacturing the Earth and require valuable, non-renewable resources (such as oil) to create. Their costs far outweigh the benefit of convenience.
Instead of being dependent on bags that stores give you to carry things home in, do your part for the future of our environment and begin using reusable bags.
Reusable bags are typically made of one of many different types of cloth and are great eco-friendly replacements for harmful plastic and paper bags. A one time investment in a set of reusable bags can free you from plastic bag usage for the rest of your life, saving thousands of bags in the process.
While reusable bags do take energy and resources to make, the fact that they are made once and used hundreds of times means that their per-use impact is much, much smaller than plastic and paper bags. Additionally, many reusable shopping bags are made from fabrics that are based on renewable resources, such as cotton.
Reusable bags also do not fill landfills and ocean waters. Reusable grocery bags are not thrown away. They are durable and have a useful life of at least 5 years. If properly cared for, high quality reusable bags will last much longer.
Adopting the use of reusable bags is something that everyone should do. In fact, some cities and countries have banned plastic bags or begun charging customers extra to use plastic bags. The environmental impact of plastic bags is something that we will be feeling for thousands of years. Do your part to ensure that we stop the problem before it gets worse and pick up some reusable bags as soon as possible.

- This is a great solution. In fact at the local grocery store where I shop, they give discounts for those customers using their own bags.
