Go with Bamboo

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo's environmental benefits arise largely out of its ability to grow and spread quickly - in some cases three to four feet per day - without the need for fertilizers, pesticides or much water.

A bamboo grove also releases some 35 percent more oxygen into the air than a similar-sized stand of trees, and it matures (and can be replanted) within seven years (compared to 30-50 years for a stand of trees), helping to improve soil conditions and prevent erosion along the way. Bamboo is so fast-growing that it can yield 20 times more timber than trees on the same area. There are some 1,000 different species of bamboo growing in very diverse climates throughout the world, including the southeastern United States.

Shower the Bride and Groom with Eco-Friendly Confetti

You may love the tradition of tossing confetti over the bride and groom as they exit the ceremony, but are concerned about what damage you're doing to the environment with what's left over.

A great solution is eco-friendly confetti! It is not slippery, it will not harm birds and there is no cleanup. The water soluble confetti will disappear with the first rain, or speed things up with a hose!

Other earth friendly tossing ideas are:

  • Bird Seed
  • Freeze Dried Rose Petals
  • Have your guests blow bubbles toward the couple.
  • Give a Little Piece of Nature

Using products produced by nature is another great idea to make your wedding more earth friendly.

Polished rocks and natural seashell place card holders add a wonderfully earthy touch to your wedding tables!

You guests can use them around their own homes to hold a cherished photo.

A unique idea for a place card holder alternative is place a small potted plant or herb at each table setting. Write each guest's name on a popsicle stick and place in the pot to show your friends and family to their seat. It will be a gift your guests will be happy to take home!

    Wildflower Seed Favors

An exciting trend in wedding favors right now are wildflower seeds. Each guest can take home a packet of seeds to plant.

A couple different options for the wildflower seed favors are personalized seed-filled packets and plantable seed-infused paper. There are also place card holders that double as seed favors.

Not only is this a great choice for a spring wedding, but also works for any other season. Flower seed wedding favors are available in many designs for any event or season.

    Give Back to Nature!

One of my favorite favors is the hanging birdseed favor. Make each one special with a personalized favor tag and place one at each table setting. If you're having an outdoor wedding, you can also hang them around the reception area.

Present your precious favors in earth-friendly packaging. Look for boxes or bags made of natural or recycled materials. Or you could go one step further and purchase plantable favor boxes! These 2" seeded lotka paper boxes will blossom into a garden of flowers if planted and cared for. Many different Lotka Paper Embellishments are available to make them uniquely you.
