Eco House Designs North Wales

Energy Efficient Homes become popular in North Wales

Energy efficient homes are on the rise in many parts of Europe. Germany and Scandinavia are moving forward faster than many other parts of Europe with bringing new planning policies to embrace a whole new attitude towards energy conservation and reducing our carbon footprint. Wales has now also embraced this and is moving forward faster than England.

Buildings and Homes are one of the main contributors to Co2 omissions and for this reason it is the main thrust of the planning agenda to design more eco friendly homes and buildings.

Designing a Eco Friendly Home

Eco Design HousesIf you plan on having your home built from scratch or plan to totally convert it to be more eco friendly then you will need the advice and knowledge of an architect that specialises in eco house designs.

If you choose to buy a lot then have your house built from scratch you can take advantage of the position and earth and choose a lot that will benefit from the natural sources of the earth. You can choose a lot that has great southern exposure and isn't blocked by any buildings or trees taking advantage of the passive heat.

Your architect will be able to design your dream eco friendly home from start to finish, whether it is a new build or one that is being converted. They will design the house making sure windows and overhangs are in the right positions so that they accept heat in the cooler winter months, and block the heat during the summer months, this will cut down on you energy costs.

Additional Eco Friendly Products

Having an Eco Friendly home built does not stop at solar heating and electricity. Your architect will also be able to advise you on many other ways that you can go green in the home.

Paint for example has many fumes which can have an effect on your health, so you could opt to have paint with low or no Volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are also found in many cabinets; counter tops, and flooring so seek advice first.

The lighting of your home can most certainly be energy efficient; in fact there are numerous energy efficient options available now.

Your architect will be able to advise you on the right building materials to use, for example structural insulated panels (SIPs) are an eco friendly approach to constructing eco friendly buildings.

Having the knowledge and experience of an architect on board who has experience in eco house designs will help save you money for many years to come.

Solar Panels & Photovoltaic Panels

solar panelsSolar and Photovoltaic technologies work in very different ways. Solar panels heat liquid which is then passed through an evacuated tube or flat plate panel. They are similar to a radiator; however they collect heat from the sun rather than giving it out. This liquid is then used to heat your cylinder.

Photovoltaic panels have silicon cells that produce a voltage between their terminals when exposed to the sunlight. The cells are wired togethe which gives enough power for use. The panels are precisely designed to integrate neatly into the roof.

Solar Water Heater System

Solar Water Heater SystemSolar panels are a great way to heat water and are one of the most established and affordable ways of harnessing the suns power to generate free energy.

Thermal Solar Water Heater Systems are a great investment not only for your pocket but also for environmental levels.

Investing in solar panels will increase the value of your home, as it is been reported that two thirds of buyers are prepared to pay up t o£10,000 more for an energy efficient home.

A solar water heater system will also prolong the life of your boiler as it is used far less.

Is Solar Heating Right for My Home?

The most common place to install solar technology is on the roof of your house; however it is also possible to have a panel on the ground. But the most important factor is to make sure that your solar panels receive enough sunlight. It is important that the panels are not shaded by trees or buildings. It is ideal if the roof is south facing, however solar technology can also be effective if the roof faces east or west.

The panels will get the most from the sun if they are positioned at an optimum angle.

Some really great ideas in here, and I would love to see more energy efficient homes being built. Sometimes initially it isn't the cheapest option, but certainly pays off over time. Lots of good information in this lens. *SquidAngel Blessing*
