The Mighty Pacific How You Sculpt This Coast!

From the Corp of Discovery to a Cannon Discovery!

Cannon beach panorama

Wondering down the beach upon a great sunlit evening the tides are rushing in and out, what an idyllic setting.

Seastacks, sealife and scenery abound at this destination on the Pacific Coast, well the Oregon Coast to be exact!

In 1806 by Capt. William Clark and 12 members of the Corp of Discovery discovered this stretch of coast after spotting a beached whale.

Capt. Clark and these men of adventure fought through what was then rugged terrain to get a the whale and what is known now as Ecola State Park.

Follow in the footsteps of Capt. Clark and the men who pushed from the east to the west. An interpretive trail guides the interested starting at Indian beach on the Clatsop Loop Trail.

Among the wildlife you might see on Indian beach includes whale and bird watching, not to mention tide pools and the other little sea critters that live here.

Further South along the coast is Cannon Beach.

Cannon Beach so named after a small iron cannon that was found and salvaged from shipwreck of the US Navy Schooner "USS Shark" & is the home of the famous Haystack Rock.
anenome
Haystack Rock, a protected marine garden towers 235 feet into the air & is the home of many marine and avian flora and fauna.

Around the Haystack Rock many treasures await to be found such as the many critters that live in the tide pools.

Tide Pools aren't the only thing. Many seabirds congregate on the rock and one of the favorites to many is the Tufted Puffin.

Among many of the activities other than the bounty of beautiful nature one might find themselves surfing, beachcombing, kiting or basking in the rays of the Pacific sun. In any event be prepared to enjoy many a day at this location.

There are plenty of things to do and experience at one of the most special places on Earth, don't miss this great adventure!

Many adventures await from whale watching to beach combing.
