Great fiction books with economic themes

Midas World

A collection of stories in the same universe. As an economist, I greatly enjoyed the consequences of plentifulness and consumism and the misguided actions of this futuristic society. I view this part as a satire on Keynesian analysis and recommendations.

The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I loved the way Heinlein developed his characters while exploring philosophy, science, religion, economics, political science, sociology, etc. Plenty of economic examples, both narrowly and broadly defined (for example, the economics of marriage and family structure). Definitely my favorite Heinlein book.

Starman Jones

Not the best Heinlein book, but it's entertaining and it describes a future where guilds dominate the economy.
