EDC Single AA Flashlight Buyers Guide

Let the Guide Begin

In today's world options are a double edged sword, in the past when dirt was new you found the product locally and bought it. It might have not been exactly what you wanted but you made due with what you had. Mag-lite ring a bell simple, effective, easy to find but dang they are huge. In comes something we take for granted everyday...the internet, with the ability to find and buy what YOU want but then came the options. Below is my list of quality EDC lights in the single AA variety a very simple buyers guide to help point you in the right direction. All of these Flashlights are made in Japan or China....I know I know those two = Junk.....Not So. My Guide is focused on 60 dollars and under, find a flashlight made in the good old USA for that price.

Fenix

First off fenix has been around for about 6 years and have come a long way sense the release of there L1 lights and are constantly upgrading there products to give you the best out there.

LD10
The LD10 takes more of a tactical approach to the edc flashlights in this article. The anti-roll bezel and bezel down belt clip is definitely a plus in my book with 100 lumens on turbo mode it is the least brightest flashlight in the guide but with all most 2 hr of run time on turbo mode this make it a strong candidate.

LD15
The LD15 bezel is completely rounded unlike the LD10 and smaller to boot. With out a belt clip the flashlight will get lost in your pocket but who said that was a bad thing with the size you won't even know its there. The Mode's are simple High and Low no Turbo, Mids, SOS or Beacon.

Fenix LD15 High Performance LED Flashlight

High ___117 __ 1 hr 30 min
Lo _____ 8 ___ 39 hrs

Length 3.19 inches

Nitecore

Second on the buyers guide is Nitecore. This flashlight company was established in 2007 and is one of my personal favorites. Having the D10 for about 3 years now its a workhorse period.

D11
The predecessor of my D10 is the D11...Kind of a Duh....anyway the D11 is considered in the Smart PD series of nitecore lights. With 145 lumens for 1.5 hrs it packs a punch, it also has the "Infinitely Variable controlled brightness system " that's a mouth full and I won't go into great details about it. Basically it ramps up or down the brightness stopping where you want the brightness at. This light is tough as nails and small need I say more.

EZ AA
This is nitecores answer to Fenix's LD15 , dimension wise there very close. But with 160 lumens at your disposal and a 1hr 1/2 run time this little light pack a bigger punch. It has the Infinitely Variable Brightness thingy like the D11. Hmm.....I'm sold.

4Sevens

Man this company came right up and did a BIG Cannon Ball in the Flashlight community pool in 2009. 4Sevens is actually a USA based company, where they manufacture there light from,
I have no idea. Just like the others listed they are quality products with outstanding customer support.

Quark MiNi AA
This little light is another one on my list, and for good reason. 90 lumens "OTF" out the front, now your thinking wait a minute you said the fenix LD10 was the least brightest. Yes I did.... one thing about 4sevens is what the spec say is what YOU get. I have read comparison reviews and the quark was brighter, Fenix has been known to stretch there lumens a little bit.

Mid____25_____8 hrs

Jetbeam

Being in Business for 7 years its the oldest company in the guide and wouldn't be around if the quality wasn't there. Jetbeams approach is more on the tactical side of thing, hey I'm not complaining, but they offer a mixed bag of goodies for the EDC crowd to.

Element E3S
One thing really stands out about this light....It's 304 Stainless Steel. That will add weight but it will be tougher than a pine knot. Run time is descent and the size is good but being in stainless is just cool especially when everything else is aluminum.

BA10
One nice looking flashlight and with 160 lumens it rivals the EZ AA. This light is in the LD10 territory on size and to those who look at size and weight might want to look else where. To those where it doesn't matter this is a excellent light and looks to be over built.
