Learning to Draw with Ed Emberley
I guess that means my kids and I belong to the unofficial "old grandpa kind of guy" fan club, because we love his how to draw books!
Makes sense, doesn't it? Grandpas are, after all, the best teachers...
What Does Your Thumb Say About You?
If your thumbs are not blue (or purple or green or orange), you're just not cool!
My three year old has had an inky thumb for about half his wee little life. He's not the only one either. I think just about everyone in our family has sported a multi-colored thumb more than once, compliments of our favorite Ed Emberley's thumbprint books!
Add Fun With Glue and Scissors
Safety Scissors, Of Course!
When my three year old hits kindergarten, his teacher is going to be impressed with the way he wields his safety scissors. Not only that - Ed Emberley's Picture Pie books have taught him a thing or two about shapes too.OK, maybe mom has learned a little bit along the way also, although I do need to learn how to share the construction paper!

Anyone Can Learn to be an Artist
...Even When You're 34!
The very first Ed Emberley book I ever bought was the Drawing Book of Animals. I purchased it as a gift for my oldest son, who was in 2nd grade at the time.I took it home, and before I gave it to him, I paged through it. Before I knew what I was doing, I had pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, and I was doodling. I couldn't help myself! I have been doodling ever since.
By the way, my oldest son loved the book too! We have purchased many more (like the Drawing Book of Trucks and Trains) since that time. Now, any time it's raining cats and dogs outside, or there's just nothing to do, it's a good thing! We can pull out our Ed Emberley books and doodle the day away!
Do You Doodle Too?
Even if you are not an official member of the Ed Emberley unofficial "old grandpa kind of guy" fan club, it still is fun to draw!
OK, put down the markers, and leave us a quick note!
