Edgar A. Guest - motivational and inspirational quotes

Edgar Guest, the author of many inspirational quotes, was named Poet Laureate of Michigan and became known as "The Peoples Poet." His inspirational quotes are used today - more than 100 years since he first began writing his folksy optimistic poetry about everyday things.

His description of his poetry, (as stated in freep.com) was
"I take simple everyday things that happen to me and I figure it happens
to a lot of other people and I make simple rhymes out of them."

Guest started his career as a copy boy for the Detroit Free Press. When searching for small items to be used as fillers for the newspaper columns, he noticed that several of them were poems and he started writing his own poetry. He was 17 years old when his first poem was published. In his lifetime, he wrote 11,000 poems, syndicated in 300 newspapers and collected in books. He had a weekly radio show and hosted a TV series in 1951.

A Heap o' Livin'

A Heap O' Livin' is a collection of poems written by Edgar A. Guest. It is widely considered to be one of the top 100 greatest books of all time. The poem "Home" is often referred to as "It Takes A Heap O' Livin" and is a part of the book with that title.

I have to live with myself and so
