Ed Helms: funny man, fake news reporter, banjo player

Ed Helms paid his dues in the comedy trenches doing stand-up, and is best known for his roles on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," and as Andy Bernard on "The Office."

Why I love Ed Helms as Andy Bernard on The Office...

1. He plays the banjo and sings a nice falsetto.
2. He's a major suck-up. I mean, he's perfected it, and you have to admire that kind of skill.
3. He is really trying to deal with his anger management problem.
4. He knows all the words to "The Rainbow Connection." You know, that Kermit the Frog song.
5. Just when you thought Dwight was the most annoying officemate ever, Andy takes it to another level, and hilarious hijinks ensue.

Ed Helms can really sing!

seriously, he's in a band

Ed Helms is part of a group called The Lonesome Trio. What can't Ed Helms do? He can sing, play the banjo and guitar, act, tell jokes... Does he cook?

Here is a sample (mp3) of the group's music, a song called "All gone to hell," by Ed Helms. More samples are available on the Lonesome Trio site.

From the group's myspace page:

Years later, the three of them reassembled in New York as the Lonesome Trio, compiling a repertoire of their own unclassifiable songs and performing them at New York venues...
