How do I edit my lens?

Going back to that first lens

If you're here, chances are you're new to Squidoo. Welcome!

As you know, we call our individual webpages lenses. Why? Like contact lenses or scope lenses, they're intended to focus on one niche topic. Each lens should have one main theme and everything on that lens should be related to your main topic. No off-topic rants or unrelated sales products; visitors should find your lenses a one-stop resource for everything they want to know about the best coconut macaroons or the health benefits of donkey milk or underwater basket weaving. (Ok maybe not that last one, but you never know.)

Excited? We are. So let's help you get back to your lens edit screen, called the workshop, so you can see how it all works.

Step One

Log into your account at Squidoo.com

Step Two

Go to the My Lenses tab on your dashboard.

When you put your mouse over your lenses...

...a little menu drops down beneath them. Here you can click the link to "edit" your lenses, or view other options.

Simply clicking on the link title will take you to a the lens, or an "under construction" page if your lens has not yet been published.

Can I edit my lens URL?

Nope, URLs are permanent.

Where is the publish button?

The publish button shows at the top of your browser when you're editing your lenses.

If for some reason you can't see it, and don't see a grey "under review" button in its place, please file a bug report with the following info:

1. your username
2. your lens URL (http://www.squidoo.com/thisformat)
3. your computer operating system (Windows Vista, Mac 10.4)
4. your browser make and model (FireFox 3.0.11, Internet Explorer 8)

Why is my lens under review?

If your lens contains something that tips off our spam filter, it could go into review.

If you're seeing the "under review" button on your lens, you should remember seeing this screen. This notifies you your lens has gotten caught in our spam filters, and that you can take a chance that it's legit and have it hand reviewed, or go back and edit it until it meets our criteria.
