Educational Assistant Jobs
Educational assistant is also known as Special Education Assistant jobs. If you are applying for this job, you will be helping students with disability under the supervision of a Special Education teacher. Your jobs includes, toileting, transporting, transferring students depending on her or his disability. If you are applying in elementary school and has pre-school and Kindergarten, then some of the students needs toileting including diaper change. For first graders and up, some needs extensive assistance, you will do some lifting, transferring and toileting. You will be with them on their respective homeroom teachers or you will accompany them for lunch and library. Watching them playing during recess is one of you job. Playing with them during free time is one of the best part.

Interview Experience and Tips
I was nervous and excited when the District Secretary emailed to set interview schedule. I was not available on the first appointment since I was still working as a CNA in a long term care facility and I need to file a leave of absence at least 2 weeks except for emergency. Finally, all was set and I felt uneasy and describable feeling. I had a lot of worries. But part of be believe that I can make it.
I did:
1. Check School Profile in the Internet or the Department of Education website in my State.
2. Search for the Principal Name, Vice Principal and the Head of Special Education Department. I wish I saw there photos online, at least I would not get too nervous. But unfortunately, I did not find any. Also, there are chances that the website are not updated and the entries might not be the present school administrators.
3. Look for the right outfit. Is there any dress code? I am a new immigrant in Hawaii from Philippines. And I am worried about what is the appropriate dress to wear? My husband said that I need not to worry about it , this is Hawaii. You can wear anything you like. I decided to wear a formal blouse and slack pant plus 1-inch shoes (semi-sandal). My husband said, it was too formal and asked me look for another one. But I did not listen to him because I am running out of time.
4. Prepare copies of CV or Resume, some certifications, diplomas, result of Educational Credential Evaluation, etc. It is always wise to prepare in case they will ask for some proofs, etc.
5. Print the online questionnaire form that I answer when I was applying for the positions. Familiarized it. I believe that some of the questions with be based on that form.
6. Come to school at least 15 minutes early, but since it was still summer vacation, some buildings were renovation including the office. It takes time to look for the new office and when I arrived at the office, someone says, they are now waiting for me in the library. Oh my God! I was running late. Finding the library was not easy when you are under time pressure. At last! LIBRARY!
7. A simple chubby woman (Special Education Head) smiled and asked me to have a seat while the principal was approaching and seated next to the woman. They introduce themselves. The Principal asked to introduce myself. Due to my nervousness I almost forgot my NAME! I was mentally block. I said, I'm sorry, I' nervous. The head said that, it's okay, you have a some portfolio here.Blah,blah, blah. Then I started to gain confidence.
8. Answer all the questions: They informed me that I was not the only applicant for this position, they already interviewed a few before me.
9. Think that I would passed the Interview because : I was a teacher and a Certified Nursing Assistant. I can teach and I can handle special education children needs like toileting, transferring, etc. They got a good deal on me!
