Educational Software Kids, Homeschool Software, Kids Learning Software

Educational software for kids enhances a child's education above and beyond what they learn in school. Kids love to use the computer and often, they're much more comfortable using it as a learning environment than they would be reading a text book. When my kids clamor for more time on the computer we make sure at least part of that time is spent on educational topics, games, and software.

You can expand your child's learning experiences with software. If you're child is studying how to tell time in school, for example, School Zone's Time, Money, & Fractions Grades 1-2 software can help give your child additional exposure to telling time, really making the learning process in school that much better.

My, how learning has changed.

Science Educational Software for Kids

Planets, Chemistry, and More

It can be difficult for parents to stay on top of what their kids are studying at school. Using educational software for kids at home will give you a new perspective on exactly how your child learns. Are they struggling to read the directions? Are they able to learn the material quickly? How engaged are they in the learning process? If you can catch any signs - either positives or opportunities - it's a great way for you to help by either providing additional coaching or by giving them positive feedback when you see excellent learning habits. These science based software programs are both fun and educational.

Reading, Writing, and Math

Covering the basic school subjects

The core subjects like reading, writing, and math always deserve extra attention. These are the skills kids need to get through life whether they're going to become a doctor or run their own restaurant. There's no skimping on these topics. Many of these brand names have been making kids' software now since my teenager was an infant and I still have one of the earliest copies of Jump Start for pre--school aged kids. All three of my boys enjoyed these games and, although they didn't realize it, they were learning a great deal of new material.

Great Writing Software for Kids

For budding novelists

If you have any children who love to write, check out Story Wizard writing software for kids. This software program is used by schools in the UK to help children understand the writing process from start to finish including designing characters, coming up with a story outline, continuity of a storyline and will even help them design a book cover for their masterpiece. It's pretty darn cool!

Great Stuff on Amazon

These are a few of my favorites on Amazon but, like I said, there are more choices today for kids software than ever before. If you don't see something on this list that strikes you as being perfect for your own children, try a global search on Amazon.

Stop and say hi!

You can make a whole school out of educational software for kids and keep kids learning, even though they'll think they're just "playing on the computer". These educational programs are also great for extending learning over the summer when kids tend to lose a chunk of what they just spent nine months learning. (I know from experience - both as a kid and as a mother!)
